These were oversquare engines, so they should have been able to rev. Maybe a lack of confidence in connecting rods?
It should be illegal to post something so offensive. Especially this early in the morning. I haven’t had my breakfast yet.
The early Drive-E (four cylinder) engines reportedly have had issues with excessive oil consumption, with piston ring failure the most common complaint. I haven’t heard anything particularly negative beyond that. Folks on the forums I read have engines that have already hit 100k miles in only 5 years, with the Drive-E…
Volvos have tendency to fall apart around the engine. Electronics, ancillaries, transmission (actually a Toyota part these days); those are the first to go. No, Starship is made out of Grace Slick, Mickey Thomas, Pete Sears, Paul Kantner, Craig Chaquico, Donny Baldwin, and David Freiberg
That’s German Engineering for you. Could you imagine how much more profitable VAG would be if they only had two or three platforms across Volkswagen, Audi, Porsche, Skoda, Seat . . . but I digress.
Looks undriveable and hideous. CP.
That might give them more credit than they deserve.
Looks like it was put together with tinfoil and tape.
No kidding. 240 at 7800 rpms, and only 150 lb-ft of torque at at 6800. With the blower you get the torque down low and off the line.
