Should be simple enough. They’ve already got a tube, and most model rocket engines have a charge at the end to eject the parachute. Just a little wadding and a decent enough chute should be fine. That said, need a way to drop the chute once you land or it’ll just be in the way.

I bet if they added a small chute or even just a streamer and a deploy charge, they could get it to land level.
