Say What I Want

“You mean like every single other piece of found footage filmmaking out there?”

Which have credits, title sequences, all sorts of things. The exclusion of these very basic and ubiquitous things is intentional. If the intent is to make it look real there is still an expectation that they state that it is point of fact

Actually I am exactly that credulous, and I know a TV show when I see it. You know it has titles and is on the goddamned TV. Your hyperbolic defense of this work is crazy to me. I fully support its right to exist but you cannot say they bear no responsibility for not doing EVEN THE SMALLEST thing to prove it is fake.

Exactly people are reacting this way because it they cannot tell it is fake. That is the problem. That is A HUGE problem in our modern world. The filmmakers are responsible for that part of this whole thing. They should have had the common sense that it needed something to show it is not real.

Then call it horror. Put a disclaimer, or hell, even a title sequence. Thank the actors, don’t try your hardest to make it look like a real thing. The producer’s of the video deserve some of the blame here.

Then put a title on it. Disclaimer even, really anything that a responsible person would do.

Bad example, this was a supernatural thriller. Even if it was viral marketed and really defined the genre, even it was well known to be fake before it was released, it had logos and cast lists and earmarks of a MOVIE. This looks like a fake snuff film.

Not once do they say it is fake, not once do they do ALL THE THINGS that are common to show it is not a real abduction. That is on the filmmakers and it is really fucked up. There is a spectrum of credulity in the world and it is better to err on the side of not looking like a rapist.

He could have done LITERALLY anything to show that it was a movie. Movies have credits and titles etc. It’s like people forget that there is a spectrum of credulity and some people are inherently more credulous. Say what you want, but this video is presented in a way that is designed to make you feel it is real. If
