I think the main reason is just business. They spend an awful lot of time and money on these trailers, and they are not "long" compared to films. They make more money off games than they ever would off making films. Lets face it, games are just extremely long interactive movies anyways. :)
LOL I don't think it is any sillier than MARCUS FENIX, or SOLID SNAKE, or any of the other "manly" names game companies seem to name their characters...
@wild_world_girl: I should clarify that I am not disagreeing with your point, I actually agree with you when you say that pre-rendered should and will be on the way out as developers strive harder to find ways to increase immersion in games. When that days comes I am sure I will move back into development, which is…
@wild_world_girl: *Shrug* You are no doubt feeling the sting of the "Why is this being outsourced and having money spent on it when we are perfectly capable of doing this 'in house'" I can understand that feeling, however I stand by my opinion that I like earning a living making cool stuff and will continue to do so…
@CandyCanes: Your underpaid sir, I won't say where or how much but I am a 5 year vet as well I am making quite a bit more than you are.
"I'll warn you ahead of time, though: continuing a tradition begun during the first game's marketing, there's fake gameplay footage in there. Why they couldn't just include real gameplay footage, I don't know."
@wild_world_girl: lol Thank you
@Monolith: I apologize, my intention was not to flame I am sorry it came off that way, nor did I mean to belittle your opinion in any way. Frankly I was having a bad day when I posted that and am man enough to admit when I was being an ass. You are correct in that it precisely did it's job. Introduce you to the world…
@Monolith: Why? Because they used a trendy rock song over some terrible animation?
@exion: HAHAHA. It's funny 'cause its' true....
@omgwtflolbbqbye:
I am skeptical about the quality of these throat mics. I have used a couple different kinds of these before for paintball, and they never really seem to work very well. I think people are going to be better off with a standard headset.
I don't see what the big deal is. You are either going to buy the game new or not. Who gives a shit if they offer you some incentive to pre-order? If you were going to buy the game new anyhow, no skin off your back. If you were not going to buy the game, no skin off your back. How is this negativley affecting gamers?
@cameleon:
This smells of "Third rate Hollywood Producer Hack trying to make a quick buck".
