I’m actually more than happy about this. I’m ecstatic. I love Viola. Plus....we need more stories about people other than white men. We have erased almost everyone other than white men - and usually rich white men.

Yep. It was actually bad.

There are other issues with it. Namely, it’s not that good a movie AND it’s really “all about the men”. It’s grossly historically inaccurate in a way that erases black female slaves who did revolt.

Saw it. It’s actually mediocre during it’s best parts.

“as I am a Black woman, which means I have a higher chance of being sexually assaulted than any other kind of American woman except for Native American”

The major issue I have with this movie - not being white or black myself - isn’t just the inaccuracy. It’s the fact that women are treated as a historical plot device in the film. They are essentially “fridged” so the men’s anger can be righteous.
