It saddens me a bit that the R34 GT-R is already appreciating in value, even in Japan. When I left a couple years ago it wasn’t entirely uncommon to find a 1999 mod going for under $30k. Can barely find that now at all. I’m moving back next year and the hopes was to find a V-Spec for about $30k but seems like that

As amazing of a performance car the new GT-R has been over the last 10 years, I would pass it over for the slower and technically inferior R34 GT-R. I know performance is all that matters to some people, but I need to have a sports car that I at least enjoy looking at as well as driving.

Thanks for bringing that one up. I see the work ones (no rear windows) about once or twice a week here in the Seattle area, but a couple months ago I finally saw one meant for people moving and I thought it was pretty cool. If I recall, those originally came Europe, so I think the styling seems to be a little more

I could say the same thing about most Chrysler products without a second thought.

Just to clarify, I’m not saying that the Vellfire that I posted is an amazingly beautiful minivan, but as someone else responded, at least it’s interesting to look at. There’s something to talk about.

Well, we’ve got the Toyota Sienna in America, which is still a bit boring, but it’s not a terrible looking car. Also the Honda Odyssey, but the Japanese market Odyssey is much cooler looking than the one we get. These American minivans are just boring.

Yeah I know, the Chrysler Pacifica makes me feel that way too.

American styling of minivans is fine, but it’s only fine, it’s boring, uninspired, and just meh.

People still care about Chrysler products? Weird.

Fortunately none of these cars’ control systems will be running anything even remotely similar to a standard operating system.

Far less terrifying than roads filled with flawed, distracted, angry, aggressive, drunk, underskilled human drivers.

What are you even talking about? I never said the 240sx was even a good car. I just said it would still be lighter and be able to handle the power of a stock Ls1 swap just fine with only a few supporting mods. I don’t like the 240sx, I liked my S15 Spec R and I don’t mind the Japanese spec S14 and 180sx. You are the

I've seen it done. So yes.

My 5 year old son would go absolutely batshit crazy with excitement in that house. That would be so much fun for the both of us.

RIP Fellow Car Guy

Peace of mind is a valuable thing. If we’re talking about one of my headache project/toy cars, fine, I’m not going to replace it because I love it and I know something else is going to go wrong with it, probably sooner than later.

But when it comes to my family haulers, I’ll spend the extra money for extra peace of

Like I said, I prefer to leave cars for the most part as they were originally intended anyways, so I’m not a big fan of engine swaps. If I decided to pick up a 240sx in the US, I would swap in the SR20, and just do some suspension tuning, a good differential, a little weight reduction, and good tires, that’s it.

“Most people are completely ignorant of a properly set-up Gen 3 or Gen 4 F body’s handling prowess.”

Problem is about zero percent of them we run into are properly setup. Maybe for drag racing. But then again, ANY properly setup car can have excellent “handling prowess” as you put it.

From what I’ve read, the LS1 is about 625lbs with transmission, fully dressed. A K24 is 380 + 110lbs for the 5-speed. So just under 500 total. So ~130lb or so weight difference there. I know of more than a few people that have done the swap with no more beefing up than diff install and wider wheels and tires, which

S14's were the only ones at 2900lbs. Early S13's started at26xx lbs. They got heavier over the years of course, new DOHC motor (a little heavier) and other minor changes. The USDM models drove like shit, not the JDM models, which is all I care about for these anyways. The 240sx was garbage, the 180sx on the other hand

Nope, not mine, the only S-chassis I’ve owned was my S15 and I didn’t have to swap the engine, was already making 330ish hp with basic bolt ons and a little more boost and tuning. Nothing crazy. I'm all about keeping the original character of a car, so complete engine swaps in most cases are a bad thing IMO. Always
