It’s not up to you to determine what is or isn’t “stupid” about how I choose to spend my money. It’s got nothing to do with what I can afford. I can afford this Focus RS, most people with a semi-decent job could swing a $40k car purchase if they really wanted it. But that’s the thing, I don’t really want it,

Trolling? Because I don’t agree with you? Because I don’t have a boner for a car that I find ugly? Some people obviously agree with me, there are comments saying so, and some stars by my post.

It’s an ugly car, and for my “fun” money for a toy car, I’m not buying an ugly one, why is that so difficult to understand for

... and shape and looks in general. It looks like a bright blue Focus with a body kit, because as far as the exterior goes, that’s what it is. I’ll pay ~$20k for a base model Focus 5dr to use as a commuter, but not $40k for a hopped up version.

Deserve the car? LOL! It’s not earned, it’s not a damn Boy Scout badge. Anyone with money and desire for it can buy it, owning it doesn’t make someone special or better than someone driving a Prius. Stop treating it like some kind of trophy, it’s a car. For $25k I could overlook it’s ugly looks and badge, but for

Dimensions, body shape, general layout. It’s easily identifiable as a Focus, so yes, it’s still a Focus. Get real.

Spiritual descendent, in a 5 door practical family hatchback. So the soul of Marilyn Monroe, trapped in Rosie O’Donnel’s body.

Risk my health and safety and that of my family daily driving an old Escort? No thanks. One for a track car or weekend car? Sure, but DD? No way.

Ummmm, I’m not. That’s clearly what I said. I would be willing to go for a Z06 (C6, not the C7). I wouldn’t buy any of those other ones.

It’s not all about the badge, but it’s an aspect that must be considered. Of course it would have to lose something to be that price, that’s why from the very beginning I said I would buy something else.

The whole point of what I said about the $30k price is that it would make the car a very good bargain, because for

I can, I can and I will, it’s my money so I will compare things as I see fit. If we are talking about new Camry vs and old one, I understand your point, but those are tools meant for relative safe transport from A to B. A car like the Focus RS would be a toy to me, something that I would only play with on occasion, so

^^^ same guy didn’t read through any of the other dozen comments saying the same thing, and any of my responses saying NO I WOULD NOT.

$40,000 isn’t a price that most people will “consume” it anyways. It’s only for mega-enthusiasts, just like the Golf-R. It will be low production, and for that reason they will likely sell every one they make. They are catering to a very small market, and that’s a good thing.

A new Toyota Camry also beats that car in most performance aspects, for way less than $40k.

Nope, not how it works at all. I’m talking about cheap, reliable, safe, family transportation. That’s why I lease new cars anyways and buy used sports cars.

Why respond? Because it’s not a “only respond if you are going to blow your load in word-form over this car” article, is it? I said I wouldn’t pay $40,000 for it, if that offends you somehow, oh well.

Really? You aren’t one of those people that calls “hot hatches” sports cars, are you? Porsche 911, real sports car. Corvette, real sports car, Nissan GT-R, real sports car. Should I go on?

Where did I say you don’t have to pay TTL on any car? I always take that into account when purchasing a car. I would imagine markup will depend on demand and location. Go check the FocusRS forums, lots of people reporting markups. Still, ~$40,000 out the door, for a Focus? Not for me, not when I could get a good

Live somewhere with a decent sized GARAGE (which can be found all over America) and throw a heater/AC in it if you need it. Then instead of throwing all of your garbage in the garage and using it as a junk-pile, use it as a GARAGE. Then you can do whatever you want.

You say “but I live in xxx city and houses are so

You could expect to see me in an Impreza, I like the Impreza, and I don’t feel the STI is worth the money. You might even see me in a Focus, the base model. With a decent discount, you might be able to coax me into a standard WRX, but even that would be a stretch. I’ve owned an Evo V, I paid $7500 for it, I’ve owned a

I did put in the “used disclaimer” I actually said the word “used” twice, once before each alternative. I don’t buy into the used vs new argument. It’s about desire, about a car that I want. If I have $40,000 to spend, I’m going to buy the best possible car that I can get, new or used, that appeals to me the most.
