Yeah, of course developing a new chassis would be expensive, that’s obvious. I’m just saying if they wanted it to appeal to sports car enthusiasts, they should have made it a sports car, not a hot hatch.

Okay, same thing still applies to the GT350. There are other cars I would buy over it, at least a couple dozen of them.

Yes, the same can be said, I wouldn’t buy either of those.
Next...

Nope, not the Golf R either, in case you were going to ask about that one next.

“The rest of the public?”
Somehow I don’t think this will be a huge volume seller, due to the price.
No, I wouldn’t buy a new STI either.

I would apply the same logic, I’m not paying the price they are asking for a Z/28, no matter how good it is at the track. They roided up their “pig” and threw some lipstick on her, same deal with this Focus.

Yeah, and then add tax and registration and the current dealer markup (which I’ve heard is as high as 20% in some places) and you’re at $40k or more.

Why? What will that change? Certainly not the fact that there are about 40 other cars that I would buy first for my $40,000.

Subaru needs to bring back the STI 5-door. I loved the previous generation ones, and the 5-door WRX’s too.

Then why not cut off 2 of the doors, reduce the weight by a ton, and make it perform even better? There’s a reason they chose the 5-door hatch platform. It’s still a small family car, just a high-performance one.

But isn’t that the point of the Focus RS, a “do it all” type of car that you can commute to work in, come home and pick up the family for a weekend ski trip, and then stop by the track on the way home in. If I was a one-car type of person, I would probably consider this car, although I would go with the previous

You listed two more cars which I won’t pay what they are asking for the same reason. I like the Impreza, I really like the Golf, but not either of them for close to $40k. I fully comprehend what goes into making these and why they are priced the way they are, but that still doesn’t make them worth it to me. Luckily

Actually it’s not going to be faster than most supercars. It will give them competition on a tight track, maybe something like Willow Springs? But on a decent sized track, or for top speed, the Focus won’t be able to keep up.

I wouldn’t pay $67,000 for a Mustang either. For that price I would buy a real track car, like a CSR/DSR.

I can close my eyes and think of myself as looking like Brad Pitt, but then I open my eyes, and I still look like me.

I can’t ignore the Focus badge, the car is clearly a Focus. Of course it’s an amazing performing Focus, but still, it’s a FORD FOCUS. If this car was $30k, I could entertain that price. Paying $40k (from what I’m hearing many dealers are marking these up already) + tax is something I simply couldn’t do for that car.

But it still LOOKS like a Focus.

I fully understand that there aren’t many new cars on the market that can touch it for the price. But if you put a new $40,000 Focus next to a used 996 Turbo or a used 997 Carrera S, you’ll see me driving away in one of the Porsches. I know it’s a stupid comparison (as we so often see

I love it, I really do, but it’s just so hard for me to justify paying $40,000 for a Focus. I know it’s a Focus RS and I know it’s an awesome car based on all of the reviews so far, but it’s $40,000, jesus.

I didn’t see that one, was browsing from my phone and just replied to the comment that I saw.

So should LeBron have been penalized when he fell on and injured that golfer guy’s wife (can’t remember their name)?
