It's like how when I was 12 I watched The Matrix over and over and over and over and it was perfect and I was incapable of criticizing it or even, like, engaging with it as a movie, because to do that would be to accept that The Matrix could have turned out some other way and it couldn't possibly because it's flawless.

I had the same problem with that live-action Cinderella, which seems to be less like the animated movie than the new Beauty and the Beast was, but it was still too much for me. I mean, it's probably been 20 years since I've seen the original Cinderella but it was still, obviously, the same thing.

It wasn't, like, the worst thing that's ever happened to Disney. It's not The Black Cauldron or anything. But they had really high expectations for Pocahontas, like it was going to be their big masterpiece and it just kinda did OK.

I liked the first Wreck-It Ralph but man… "Yesss, a denizen of the internet" is like something out of some kind of achieve-maximum-cringe-with-as-few-words-as-possible story contest. It's the "For Sale: Baby Shoes, Never Worn" of cringe.

For what it's worth, and I haven't seen this but I've seen the trailer a few times, and I thought it made it fairly clear what was going to happen. So maybe that was the argument.

Yeah, I found myself agreeing with Faraci more but I liked Nicholson more as a cohost (before knowing about the harassment incidents, of course) precisely because of her willingness to defend her, at times, unconventional tastes.
