I forgot a very import comma in there. Maybe I’ll just answer your question instead of being a sarcastic asshole. California is not very polluted relative to similarly industrialized states or countries. That is due to our strict environmental regulations, particularly air pollution. If you look at the smog in the 70s

YES! In the 70's and 80's, the smog was so bad (I grew up in LA basin) that we had “smog alerts” in school and couldn’t go out during recess/lunch. Instead teachers kept us stay in class and had us rest our heads on the desk to play Heads Up Seven Up. I thought all schools had these smog alerts - nope, just So.Cal.

And it was like that before the white man showed up. The shape of the valley, the wind coming in off of the ocean, etc... All these factors mean you get some dead air over LA. This holds every particle of smoke, dirt anything that gets into the air is held over LA. A forest fire in Canada contributes to the brown air

I hate what identity politics have done to environmental conversation.

An adjustable wrench? Really?! I thought this was a professional establishment.

I have a feeling the tech might have told Andrew something like “it helps the fluid flow better”, resulting in an error in translation.

Andrew, I was under the impression that nitrogen charging a shock has nothing to do with fluid flow, but rather keeps the fluid under pressure so that air bubbles can’t form in the fluid causing a drop in the fluid’s viscosity.

Custom valving can be done pretty cheaply. Most aftermarket Bilstein shocks can be custom valved, practically every “sporty” car has a Bilstein shock for its application. Just choose your shop and your spring rate, you have your top notch system. Assuming you have the knowledge to convey the modification being

THAT IS WHY IT IS THE CAMRY OF HOT HATCHES

A GTI (the new one anyway) is also faster than an ST at everything except depreciation. +1 for this is your Camry of hot hatches

For each of these modes, there is a safe, obvious, reliable choice of vehicle.

Which would make it the Camry of hot hatches....

fiesta ST? No.....The GTI is and will always will be the camry of hot hatches. I see a dozen a day driven by every single possible demographic you can think of. Ive never seen an ST driven by someone remotely old or feminine.

That Suzuki up top is freakin’ adorable.

When [Modest Mouse lead singer Isaac] Brock left the scene he backed into a cop car, but he just drove off. Sometimes life is okay.

17990 in 1986 is still 39564 in 2016 dollars. And that was for a non turbo. The turbo debuted in 1987, for 22260, or 47231 modern dollars. GTFO.

“The Supra people want to return was always really expensive.”

I’m going to post some inflation adjusted numbers just for reference.
