Power-tripping assholes be power-tripping. The corporate world is easily as vile and possibly more insidious because of how easy it it is to get away with it, given how much of that “communication” happens behind closed doors with no witnesses.

That would be a legitimate critique if this was not an artifact of conversing with white guys. Its a little disingenuous to say that “its not about white people” when the conversations where this manifests are specifically for a white audience. If you don’t care that people are using what you think is humility as a…
Right, that’s precisely my point. The exercise in “humility” that these guys claim they’re engaging in isn’t that at all — its supplication to a group of people who are using their own language against them, as a means of legitimizing their racism. They think they’re putting down self-deprecating humor; that is not…
I think you really don’t understand what racism is. Racism is not “being picked on” for having a different skin color, or hair texture, or facial features. It doesn’t stop once kids grow out of that phase of their life. You vastly understate — and understand — the pernicious evil of internalized concepts of inherent…
There is an ocean of difference between humility and submission. OPs contention, if I understand her correctly, is that what is intended as humility is being taken as permission for people to treat you like shit while you laugh “with” them — which gives them even more permission. That can’t possibly be the intent. Can…
If your audience doesn’t understand that, then your message is not getting through. The OP here is telling you that what you are intending as mocking a stereotype is taken as permission to perpetuate them by the very people you are “confronting”. Is that really the intent?
No need to get pissy, nobody (that I can find) said they charge by weight, but they do occasionally weigh passengers; it usually hits the news when that happens because people are offended by it. Some airlines will require that you buy two seats if you’re too big to fit into one.
How is it illegal? Airlines in the US already occasionally do this.
Flu shot instead of her first dose. She went back for the second, they probably did a urine pregnancy screen in advance of the second, and got the bad news.
That’s actually known as Eggs Oscar.
They’re filming in Boston, which is where Tufts Medical Center is, so...
Is that John Slattery? It is, you can tell us.
Conrad Ricamora, aka Oliver Hampton, aka Oliver the IT Guy, aka Connor’s on-again-off-again boyfriend is notably absent from this list.
I saw a plane land at this angle on a runway a few years ago, probably at BWI (which I was commuting to about once a month, but possibly elsewhere). I was in a plane that was just sitting, waiting and waiting to take off, and a Lufthansa plane came in on a runway parallel to us at an angle just about what I’m seeing…
It determines whether or not this was premeditated.
And T-Swizzle’s music is about how all her ex boyfriends are jerks (with zero self-awareness). She’s not exactly Margaret Atwood Joan Didion herself.
Nope, I still love “Shut Up And Dance”. Nothing gets me bouncing like that song.
You seem fun.
I got it when I was 32. The cutoff age is because the vaccine was tested on women up to the age of 26, it doesn’t mean that its not efficacious past that age. What that *does* mean is that its legally “off-label” which means your insurance doesn’t have to cover it. Mine did though, so its up to the plan you have.
Because its under the $10,000 automatic reporting threshold. Any bank withdrawals of $10K or more get immediately reported to the IRS (I assume, or some other Federal agency).
