What I see happen, is that the progress bar will go to say, 15 or 30 seconds, then stop. When the 'play' catches up to it, the video stops and I see the spinner, indefinitely. If I refresh the video, the progress bar just stops at that same point, to the exact second! So Ihave to shift-reload the whole page to

It's in the 50's here today, so no iced coffee for me. I have a Bodum teapot similar to the one pictured; if I can figure out the coffee/water proportions for it, I'll try it when it warms up this weekend!

Unfortunately:

Ha, I'm glad it is not just me, I sit here and rage at Verizon, but you have a better connection and sounds like you still have problems. Well, I just installed the YouTube Center and tried a few videos with DASH disabled, and they all played fine! Thanks for the tip!

Thanks, I just tested a few videos with that plugin and DASH disabled, and they all played fine. Now I can blame you for the future hours wasted watching videos! Thanks again!

No, I should have specified, I can't watch them in either Firefox or Internet Explorer (which I only oped to make sure it wasn't just Firefox!).

My youtube experiences are terrible, 9 times out of 10, a video will play for about 10-15 seconds and hang; it's gotten to the point where I just close it if I don't see the buffer bar go to 100% right away. When they do play, it is at the lowest resolution, making something detailed like an X-Men trailer pointless

This technique is just like leaving a giant teabag in the pitcher overnight, I wonder if a pitcher with a built-in infuser would work as well?

No butter, though? I don't know the rules on vege eating...

Well, I am sorry to say that it sounds to me like the friction between you and your mom has less to do with vegetarianism, specifically, and is more about her need for control. I am out of my depth when it comes to advice in this area.

It isn't anywhere near as tasty as 'fresh' hummus, but you can get little boxes of powdered hummus mix (falafel, too) that will stay on the shelf for a while. You can quickly mix it with water and olive oil when your friends come over. Again, it is not as good as fresh, but you can mix it with some herbs, garlic, or

Huh, well that's a tough one, because I don't know your mom or her background. I'm just guessing here, but as she is an adult, she is probably more entrenched in her ways than her younger kids, so she won't like the change. Also, moms don't like being told how to raise kids (especially by kids). Even more, almost

second it was cooked with the meat, and again I was accused of being picky

HAHA. Always a classic!

(2) they're not as interesting/original as they think they are!

Why do people need to make everything about their own shit? This goes beyond the discussion about vegetarian/vegansim. If someone has an issue with health or weight (or family, or sexuality, or whatever), and they ask you for help, then you can get involved. If they are managing quietly at their desk and they are

I'm going to step into your #2 here. A lot of the comments here (and any time Lifehacker/Gawker posts the word vegetarian), are all about how veg-types feel the need to trumpet themselves and get in the faces of meat-eaters. They don't understand that even if you go out of your way to quietly attend a dinner or

the stories I could tell about how they make fun of me for being Jewish. They try to convince me to become Catholic all the time because it's "the same religion."

Maybe keep a couple of bags of frozen vegetables that can be easily and quickly mixed with something like pasta. You can add some beans (like chickpeas) to pasta, too. If you are just looking for snacks, pretzels are awesome—so are dried fruit (just watch out for the added sugar) and nuts. Almost any vegetable can

You have an open invitation to my place for next Thanksgiving.
