including investigating the boyfriend.
including investigating the boyfriend.
“She was reported missing in late January, following a domestic dispute with her boyfriend of 10 years, police say”
Granted, it was Don that pushed her in that direction when he told her not to be so cynical after she repeated what the jock had said. If it were not for that phone call I don't think Sally would have chosen him.
She may have some of the trappings of Betty, but that moment showed that she's Dick's daughter for sure.
Sally didn't go with the younger boy because he was "safer." She kissed him because he was the the non-cynical stargazer. That kiss made me appreciate Sally more than ever.
I thought it was funny that when the Francises' guest first arrive, Betty asks Bobby, "Where's your brother?" I thought that as a nice in-joke. Has Eugene done anything since the time Sally was convinced he was the reincarnation of their grandfather?
The show has never had good airplane effects. Heck, it's hardly ever had good driving in cars effects! But I take it as a part of the retro style, referencing studio shots and backlit screens of yore.
Do you want your brothers to talk like that?
"You're not only pathetic. You're selfish!"
This would actually be the second time that Robert Morse has popularized the song, as he sung it in (and won a Tony for) the 1962 Broadway production of "How to Succeed in Business Without Really Trying." Oh, the irony.
Speaking as someone who just recently rewatched the first 3 seasons of the series, Don and Bert were a lot closer back in the original agency; Bert saw him as something of a student and wanted to induct him into his club of Ayn Rand-loving, decision-making power brokers. He talked to Don a lot about he was one of the…
Don and Bert always had an understanding after the "Pete situation". I saw the sequence as Don having a grief stricken moment after the initial shock wore off.
I think people forget how close Don and Bert must have been, really. The show didn't show it often. But they knew each other for a decade. They worked together from the time Don started as a lowly copywriter that Roger found, all the way up to creative director, to partner, to being the guy who STARTED Cooper's new…
Third fuck's the charm!
3rd fuck
He'll be greeted by Ida Blankenship and his missing testicle.
Didn't even think of that! Excellent point. Don has overcome his greatest business hurdle, and yet he still has nothing.
The song and dance didn't QUITE work for me (as awesome as it was) because I don't think Don had a close enough relationship with Bert for that to really make sense, but I did love the fact that right after Don made yet another major windfall, financially, spirit Bert was there to cut him down a bit by pointing out…
Great episode. Maybe even one of the best. But seriously, fuck you AMC for splitting this season in half. Fuck. You.
R.I.P. Bert Cooper. I just hope they don't require shoes in Heaven.
