Is there actual, peer-reviewed data that concludes signing along with the radio is visually distracting? IANADr, but I know that audio and visual areas of the brain are quite different and utilize very different sensory inputs. Instead, it would seem that singing along minimizes day-dreaming/boredom, something that

Thanks for the daily reminder of how much Amazon sucks and U should avoid buying anything from it at all costs.

If you’re dumb enough to give Musk your money, I have zero sympathy for you.

So there you have it. A widely used engine technology may be the culprit behind millions of owner headaches. And with GDI use being so widespread across vehicle models and automakers, it doesn’t seem like something you can avoid, unless you buy an older car.

The AAMVA has resistance to the matter? Follow the money. Who is paying them to take this position and what do they have to loose? Always follow the money if you’re looking for the right and honest answer.

I’ve got a Lexus and a Mazda. With CarPlay I have a smooth transition between both cars because I carry my preferred UI in my pocket. Rivian, Tesla and GM all think its better for me to have to learn and remember a separate interface if I were to buy one of their vehicles.... not happening in this lifetime!

Guess I’ll never own a Rivian then. It doesn’t take over, it’s secondary.

The easy solution in these days of ludicrously sized screens is just split the damned thing. Show AA/Carplay on half, the rest of the car functions on the other half, keep everybody happy. I generally don’t bother with AA or Carplay for the very reason this guy is bitching about. But all I generally use my phone for

You’re right: I shouldn’t need to use the infotainment screen to do any critical vehicle functions. Problem solved!

You know he does have a point about leaving one screen to do vehicle functions. It would be amazing if something as simple as a button located to the left of the steering wheel could open that frunk in one simple push! Seems so obvious but alas that’s just a feat of engineering we can’t accomplish

Same. Here in Portland, the target customer would also believe that “American Cars are all Vegas”, “GM is killing the environment” or some other BS. You can’t tell that type of Pseudo-Liberal facts like: GM licenced their first Catalytic Converter for Free, How we wouldn’t have modern EV’s if it wasn’t for GM’s EV1

I have a saying that my friends know extremely well:

“Always count on GM to design and build excellent cars characterized by one fatal flaw.”

Read that again.

The big mistake GM made, was not broadening the Volt line into CUV’s. The whole country was moving towards CUV’s. Why on earth did GM stubbornly continue on with the sedan form factor with the second generation Volt?

If you’ve got a 120V outlet, you can charge a PHEV every day. Charging a full EV is a lot more difficult for most. Some might also have charging at work, but not at home, or charging they can’t rely on (one or two stations in an apartment complex). Maybe you go on road trips a few times a year and don’t want to worry

That’s basically GM’s history on everything in a nutshell.

Toyota took the original 1997 Prius and evolved and improved upon it. The 1997 model sold like crap. The subsequent 2004 model was revolutionary. Toyota kept at it and continued to improve it.

For company cars, the story is much worse, with the electric drivetrain accounting for just 11% to 24% of total mileage. That’s mostly a European phenomenon, and is likely because many of the drivers of company cars are not paying the fuel costs for their vehicles. As a result, they have little incentive to charge.”

Ba

I’ve been saying this for a while. It’s depressing how much stuff GM pioneered and then dumped. GM should have been Tesla, but instead of setting up a separate division to build electric cars, they shelved all the work they’d done on the EV-1 (which had a small but passionate following) and moved on. Same thing with

GM has been missing the boat on several things lately. Where’s their Maverick competitor? Where’s their Bronco competitor?
