I would be fine is the WSJ was factually accurate. But it isn’t. If an entire editorial team can’t get the basic points of their argument correct, they have no business arguing for or against it.
Gas taxes are not currently paying for roads. They have not kept up with inflation.
We do need more articles like this. Long, thorough savage take downs of idiots writing about things they have little understanding about.
The gas tax is a two-fold purpose: maintain roads, incentivize against burning fossil fuels. The second part is accomplished with EVs. Anyway, the feds haven’t touched that in decades. Gas taxes are mainly a state issue.
Don’t feel bad. For half the country, those statements wouldn’t have been sarcastic.

Should the tax credit for EV’s be kept or not is debatable, there’s pros and cons on both sides.
