They are an industry group. That’s it. Most they can do is shame car manufacturers or encourage insurance companies to charge outrageous rates for a particular car. Oh, and lobby. Like any good industry group, I’m sure they do a ton of lobbying.

Sometimes I wish this site had downvotes. This is one of those times...
The same way they could afford to travel to the show: mommy and daddy, or mountains of debt.
Don’t forget they overprice their cars and won’t negotiate too.
Sounds like they didn’t perform the recall correctly. You should take it back, there’s often plastic or other barriers in there to seal the wind out, and it sounds like they simply didn’t seal the plastic back to the door correctly/fully.
One of mine was to put plastic filler pieces in the key so the open slot the width of the entire key head changed to only a small hole in the center. Because GM was too cheap to replace the weak ignition switch springs instead...
It would be interesting to audit that and see if it’s actually happening at the frequency they seem to indicate (100%).
Becuase Carmax totes their inventory as highly inspected/repaired (“Quality Certified” to be specific), and charges a premium price for their cars based on that. It’s not Bob’s Former Gas Station Car Sales LLC where they make no such claims about having a premium inventory.
It’s not wrong to sell it. It’s a poor choice ethically if you know but don’t disclose it to the buyer, but there’s also plenty of websites the buyer could run the VIN and find all open recalls.
Sorry, doesn’t work. One of my beaters has a engine from the higher trim level, and the faulty part (manifolds that collect leaking engine oil, which eventually catch fire) was long ago replaced with aftermarket headers.
I’m a homeowner with a mortgage but that deduction does nothing for me.
Oh, that money may go to the schools, but I’m sure there’s a good chance the state finds a way to reduce the amount of taxes allocated to the schools by the same amount. Yay more money in the general (slush) fund!
This. I hate the new “iPad taped to the dash” interior design style that Mercedes, Audi, Mazda and others are guilty of in some recent models.
Yes, no CrossFit will really help those of us 6' or more from hitting our knees on things... /s
Rack up enough parking tickets and they’ll be next to face the AA guns.
They’re just prepaying their future violations. They wouldn’t want us kind folks to be waiting on them to pay after breaking the law.
This. A good independent shop would do all that for much, much less. A family member’s odyssey needed the 100k mile service which included flushing most fluids, timing belt, valve adjustment, spark plugs, etc.

I’ve set the alarm on my wife’s Soul off before when other keys in the same pocket managed to press the remote button. Him not directly doing it seems plausible.
Bring on the streaming! Directv wants $33 extra a month for the lowest package with Fusion, so I’ll be on the lookout for whatever streaming platform this ends up on.
