The skipshift is just an EPA mpg cheat to avoid gas guzzler tax. You only ever hit it under light throttle application and certain mph. I shift my CTS-V early enough or am on the gas hard enough I rarely hit it.
Sounds like they should have kept making the AMC/Jeep inline 6.
And a love for being covered in gas by the end.
Chicken tax isn’t helping either.
Agree, but you also can’t predict the future either. I bought a high-mpg car expecting gas to stay above $3/gal and my commute to remain around 40mi per day. Near 100% ROI over 5 years under those conditions. Gas dropped in about a year, and my commute cut in half around the 2.5 year mark.
Thanks.
That’s assuming it’s paid off or worth more than the loan balance. The average person is going to have their vehicle financed, with a loan balance at or near the value of vehicle.
They can and they do enforce illegally short yellow times. The cities in my state were doing it, the state gov changed the law and required one additional second of yellow time above the minimum which made most of the cameras unprofitable.
This is why I avoid them like the plague. Taking the PA turnpike versus backroads from central Ohio to eastern PA would TRIPLE the cost of the trip.
With the right commute and an inefficient existing car, buying one of these could have 100% ROI or more, especially with maintenance costs factored in.
Just curious - does yours have the bose or the non-bose stereo?
Spark EV? Tons of torque and also very cheap, similar mileage, and with the Volt holding up well, we know GM can engineer electric cars.
Surprisingly, no. At least with the current gas prices, depreciation on a new car will virtually always be a greater expense than fuel. 85 miles 5 days a week (22,100 mi/yr) at 12mpg works out to around $3978/yr in fuel cost per year. Charging the model X would cost $960/yr at the average electric rate, working out to…
The current US average gas price is $2.34.
It can make 60 miles, especially if you forego climate control. Worst case there are charging stations in a ton of places these days, can stop and top off for a few minutes.
