Not being underwater is possible with a small down-payment and good negotiating. I negotiated, paid a $500 downpayment (plus taxes and fees), and have never been underwater. Not even in month 2.

That’s why you do what How do you crash? mentioned, but save up before you buy until you have enough cash/investments around to pay off the loan if necessary. You’re really buying in cash at that point, except you’re working the market as well for a return.
I’d be interested to know how many people at the median income level actually opt for a 48 or less month loan. I’m probably right around median, bought a much cheaper new car than the average (read: half), and still opted for 60 months. The interest rates were pretty much the same for 36-60 months. Why not opt for the…
Something similar happened before though. Iirc a Tesla hit the front of a parked semi trailer because the object was too high and the sensors didn’t see it. Apparently Tesla is going to have to sadd a high mount radar/lidar sensor.
Human level, you’re right. Legal level, not so much. Fraud with intent to deceive is legally much worse than plain old negligence/gross incompetence.
Not paying out for the extended warranties is bullshit. Every month not used at September 2015 should be reimbursed. You paid for coverage over a period of time yet are not receiving said coverage. To me, that is theft.
I’m averaging 43.5 mpg (pump) in my 6 speed Eco. But I live in a flat area and miss the traffic most days.
Chevy Cruze. Stick. 42mpg. Cheap. Lightweight and enough power with the turbo to zip around. 3/36 bumper to bumper and 5/60 power train. Great for soaking up highway mileage imo. Can be had with sunroof/heated seats/leather. Even fits a 6'6" gentleman like myself.
Buying back 500k cars plus lawsuits and fines ain’t exactly profitable either. They should have sucked it up and put a urea injection system on them from the factory. Probably wouldn’t have this mess...
If nothing else, you’d think they could put 500k new gas engines into the cars. I would think most of the car would be the same other than perhaps the fuel pump.
Are you sure it’s not just a bad dealer denying the loaner? A coworker has had a 2016 F-150 while his [insert Ford sedan here - Fusion?] is in the shop for a recall. He’s had the F-150 for a couple weeks at least.
At least from personal experience, the Japanese cars are no better on recall speed. Long wait times for availability of parts, especially these airbag recalls.
It’s kinda amazing Fisker didn’t carry enough of their own insurance to cover unsold inventory. Sucks that flood is a large factor in their demise.
Yes, but there’s statistical proof of seat belts saving lives and lessening injuries. At a 95% fail rate, there’s statistical proof that the TSA is just security theater.
Better have been a fistfull of ones...
The parts were hard to find and almost always had to be ordered 10 years ago when a friend had one. I can’t imagine now...
My brother had the previous body style Accord, which also had a water pump failure. You had to pull the fucking engine to get to it. Not saying Hondas are the worst to work on, but regardless I hate working on them.
Why would someone buy a beetle? Because some people buy cars based only on how it looks or the color.
I would take offense to this, but everywhere besides Columbus probably deserves it.
This is why you buy the respectable, mature, oldersibling of the Corvette: the CTS-V. Most of the first owners are boring 50 year olds. 2nd owners are the dicks. Third owners are the youths. Just be the 2nd owner and don’t be a dick.
