Plus, some cars like almost all newer BMWs don’t even have throttle butterflies anymore. I was amazed to pull my N51-powered BMW apart and learn that there is no throttle body at all. The potential maximum lift of the intake valves is adjusted constantly, and that serves as the “butterflies”. It’s amazing technology.
Not with a turbocharger. There’s no ECU programming that can cover up the latency of a turbo spooling up. This is increasingly relevant as a larger and larger share of cars are sold with snails. So yea, still very relevant.
I’ve worked in this area. :-). The real advantage of TC in an EV is the predictable and smooth power output, combined with declining torque as RPM rises. It makes an effective TC calibration a relative breeze.
He’s missed a big one: perfect traction control. With an electric motor you can modulate torque to 1% or better, 20,000 times per second. Individually to each wheel, if you have dual or quad motors.

I don’t think you understand how dumb the average consumer is. You HAVE to design for the lowest common denominator if you want to sell a mass market product, it’s basically law at this point.
My parents still haven’t figured out how to use the Blu Ray player in their CT6.
Plot twist: about to get lapped by lead traffic
Unlike Tesla’s Autopilot, a driver won’t be required to touch the wheel on occasion to confirm they’re still alert; Super Cruise is designed to use facial recognition software through an infrared camera on the steering column that can determine whether a driver’s asleep, or not paying enough attention to the road.
