THIS SONG IS BEAUTIFUL

actually, it's great. luckiest fans ever!

the line is actually, and hilariously, "pale, blue-colored IRIS"

"sounds a little like Simon & Garfunkel" and sounds a LOT like "strawberry fields forever"

…like so many flansburgh songs! i love him, but his songwriting can be spotty.

go and listen to honey locust again, it's great. do it.

now on second listen, this is a GREAT record!

Excited for the shout out to U.S. Maple (one of my favorite bands ever), though I'd consider them more of a 90s band — their heyday was opening for Pavement, after all. But they did have two albums in the 00s (2001 and 2003).

Oof, this album is a lot better than C+. I've been digging it quite a lot, there are plenty of classics. "Vote For Me Dummy," "Save the Company" and "Planet Score" are THE post-reunion songs to beat at the moment.

because they stopped writing good melodies

surprised to see no mention of syd barrett's "vegetable man." (to be fair, it IS officially unreleased, but it's still widely known and covered.) the whole lyric is basically syd describing what he was wearing when he wrote it, plus the chorus of "vegetable man, where are you?"

i am willing to follow and support my favorite artists wherever their muse takes them, so i definitely don't perceive donating as a "risk" to me, as if i might not get a return on my investment or something. quite to opposite, it's thrilling to play a small part in the creation of something. a well-made kickstarter

"be impeccable" is a major hit for me. it's a low key song, but achingly good.

i loved factory, but this album is a big improvement in almost every way. it is seriously good. best reunion ever.
