When I had just turned 6 years old, my family moved from our home town to a larger suburb in a state several hours away. I was still 5 when my parents took me with them to look at the house they would end up buying, and while we were walking through, the little girl whose parents were selling the house invited me to

In early 2022, my father-in-law passed away. And although he was a 20-year stroke survivor, it cost us all off-guard.

1996 - Chicago suburbs - I was a scrawny 14 yr old boy. My sister and I were home alone - she was in her bedroom on the other side of the house. I was doing homework at our kitchen table facing a floor to ceiling window facing the backyard. It was already dark outside, which meant the window was basically a mirror

My folks bought a large farm house built in 1924 the summer before I started 3rd grade (1984ish). My mom, brother and I had been gone all summer at her folks on the east coast, and my dad and some friends moved us in while we were gone.

Hey y’all, happy Halloween!

So very very late to the party...

“Hello Senoritas”

The Ghostest Generation

(Not a native English speaker, sorry.)

I grew up in a small historic town in New Jersey and have a couple ghost stories, but this is the one I’m going to share: In high school and college I worked at a restaurant that was originally an old inn from the 1700s. One Sunday afternoon, I picked up the phone at the hostess station and had a chilling conversation

Mine’s kind of short, but It still lingers with me.

LOVE this time of the year! First time commenter, longtime reader. I have quite the haunting experience that still brings chills and fear to me...nearly nine years after the fact. I call it...

That’s lovely.

My stepgrandmother was a very religious woman...church every day, prayers before every meals, you get it. She also lived to a ripe old age and was well and “with it” all the way through. She only lived with her daughter towards the very end of her life and even then, it was more out of convenience than need.

It was believable up until the point where you decided to wear head to toe thrift stores clothes without washing them first.

I’m actually very disappointed that I haven’t had any amazingly terrifying supernatural occurrences happen to me. I’m down to party with some ghosts.

I don’t super agree with your tone but I do agree that each year this contest runs, the stories get more & more clearly made up. This isn’t a short story fiction contest, this is for people who have actually experienced scary/creepy/paranormal shit. That’s why I read.

Long-time reader, first-time writer. Apologies on the length.

My family and I live north of Chicago and bought a home last year. The previous homeowner’s parents built the home (in 1986) so we thought we knew everything.

The home has a main floor, upstairs (four bedrooms), finished basement (one bedroom) and attic. The

This is fake AF. And it’s a bummer people are encouraging dumb fanfic here because the preceding stories have been pretty great. This is about how great your vintage collection is, how you’re so petite no one wears your size, how amazing you looked and how you became an instant celebrity and then solved a crime and

This could be a ghost story or just a creepy as hell story, depending on whether you believe in ghosts or not.

Several years ago, I was studying for the Chartered Financial Analyst exams and it’s about as fun as it sounds. It requires spending a lot of free time in quiet places studying, reading,
