I’m not trolling, I’m honestly wondering how to remove a student who doesn’t want to be removed. Unless you let that student take over the class, you’ll have to use force, and then it’s a case of “what is the proper amount of force?”. Obviously we know what too much force is after seeing this situation, but any amount…
Jesus, I’m not supporting this cop. I’m wondering the correct amount of force to give, because to a lot of people, the correct amount is “no force”, and if a kid wants to stay in class, well there’s nothing anyone can do about it.
I believe she was causing a disturbance, cussing and what not. Where do we draw the line on that? Does a teacher get to have any control over their classroom?
Wasn’t she causing a huge disturbance? Anyways, let’s try a different scenario. What if a kid started taking their clothes off and shitting on the floor? If that’s not ok, then where is the line drawn?
I’m not defending this cop. I’m wondering what the line is. Moving anyone that doesn’t want to be moved is not particularly easy, and is going to look bad when videotaped. Yes, this situation was egregious, and I’ve already said he should be fired, but had he scaled it down it would still look bad had she struggled at…
What if she gets out of the chair and sits on the ground? We can stretch the “what-if” to a point where she’s being non-violent but still needs to be removed from the classroom. At some point you need some level of force to remove her, and finding the perfect amount is difficult, even for a good cop. Or you just don’t…
What if they get out of the desk and lay on the floor, and struggle if you try to grab them?
Not supporting the officer, glad he got fired.
