Just buy a joystick on ebay from when space sims were still popular. My original Microsoft Sidewinder Precision Pro is still incredibly tight and accurate, despite being 15 years old. I bought it for Wing Commander Prophecy and it's been great since. I see them on ebay every once in a while for @$20.
