I liked this book too, and hope the series does well enough that Apple springs to pay for a similar adaptation of Crouch’s “Recursion,” which I liked quite a lot better.

Nope, I read the books and while the first one was okay, the next ones twisted back and forth on themselves so many times it became incomprehensible and stupid.  So if the movies go that way, that’s a faithful adaptation.

WAY further down in the comments, this person finally reveals (or at least claims) that they had gender dysphoria as a child, implying that they were convinced otherwise.  This is someone who is self-loathing, and compensating for the harms done to them in their life in the worst way.
