You type really well for a preschooler!
You type really well for a preschooler!
Yeah, isn’t a “game that gets occasional updates and patches” a... “game”?
I don’t really think it implies 1:1 - what it does imply is that a movie, which is shorter, is in more cases going to have to cut more from the book than a show would, whatever the ratio, and therefore is more likely to suffer for it. Which is the unstated (and obvious, I think) answer to the silly thesis of this…
I think it’s apparent in the remainder of the conversation that this is understood by all, but I suppose in case that wasn’t apparent, agreed. The underlying context is the article’s overall question of why we (they) keep turning books that failed as movies into TV shows, and my counter is that the medium of TV is…
Once I figure out where the heck they are the first time, they are cool.
Agreed - they’re ripping out the dumbest part of Animal Kingdom to make it (partly) Encanto-themed instead, so they clearly view the movie as a success.
Now I really want to see part of this movie where the government starts telling people “hey, we figured out they’re attracted to sound, so be quiet and you won’t be torn to shreds by a demon!” and a bunch of conservatives start shrieking YOU CAN’T TELL ME WHAT TO DO shortly before getting mulched.
I meant in the other article, but whatever. Yes, I shall glare down upon you like someone glaring down upon you but from a different location.
Much like the suspiciously-similar commenter noted in that article saying the same thing, I admire your tenacity, but it’s “Olympus.” It’s “Olympus.”
Sure, there are definitely exceptions, and that’s one. But the movie MASSIVELY reworked a lot of the book, and that it turned out great is a lucky break for us.
I keep meaning to watch that movie, because I recently read the book, and I can’t fathom how the fuck they could possibly have crammed that down into two hours.
Jesus, say what one will about the final season, but this would have been so much worse.
It’s certainly not an airtight premise, but I think you’re overstating it with this. Sure, the movie established that there was a very specific way that they could be rendered temporarily vulnerable enough to be killed with a shotgun, but it also established that they were extraordinarily tough otherwise, which I…
That lyric is indeed very dumb for multiple reasons, one of which is that it’s actually “rises like Olympus,” not what you said, although I like your interpretation. Still, they came up with one of the worst descriptions of all time - “this mountain is like that other mountain.”
Correction: worldwide.
And to think, you could simply have chosen not to embarrass yourself like this, or to this hilarious degree.
Children have so many redeeming qualities, though, unlike these people.
“What’s one thing all of these creators have in common, aside from boundless passion for Microsoft’s games division?”
Oh, I know! It’s that they’re all the weirdest possible manbabies shrieking stupidly about something dumb!
Probably because an 8-hour series is a much better match for the amount of content in a lot of novels than a 2-hour movie.
The better question is “why do we keep trying to cram an entire book into two hours and then being surprised when it doesn’t work?”
To the extent they had any brains to begin with.
