Yeah, I’ve seen this sentiment before and I agree. He would have slid into the White House no problem if he had just decided to take COVID-19 seriously for more than three days.

I specifically remember sitting there one night in March thinking “holy fucking shit, Donald Trump is actually president of the United States

Yeah if he was competent we’d be in much worse shape, really.

Man that sucks to hear about Mulaney. I just discovered his stuff maybe a year ago and have not laughed as hard since first hearing Eddie Izzard and Patton Oswalt back in the 90's. On top of his obvious talent, he just seems like a lovely person, hope he gets the help he needs to kick all this shit.

Based on what’s canon now, post-Disney buyout, no...he’s absolutely not a great Jedi...and that’s exactly what makes TLJ work.

Everyone always just assumed Luke went on to become this revered Jedi Master, while failing to realize that he basically had to start from scratch. Obi-Wan gave great advice, but it was just

Is it at all possible that the whole “planning a future together” thing (and perhaps even the “sharing a kiss” thing) was all in Smythe’s imagination? I’m not trying to defend Shkreli, but even assholes (especially famous assholes) can have stalkers. And even journalists can turn into stalkers.

That whole Elle article was just a list of red flags and him priming her to accept being manipulated by him.

I agree with everything you said except the ethics bit. Hamill is alive and was credited (and surely paid) for his likeness and voice. I’m not crazy about the CGI, but I 100% understand why they did it. The audience needs to be able to recognize that this is Luke without the awkward exposition of him having to come

All valid points. You’ve proven yourself intelligent. Why do two words ruffle your feathers so?

One of my favorites chapters of the unabridged version (the other one is where college-age Nadine communes with Flagg through the Ouija board).

That’s not radical; that’s gnarly. Dude.

Ah I see! I stand out-referenced.

Now playing

The start of the 1994 miniseries was one of the best openings to anything ever.

“You can lift it up anytime you like.”

As far as Harold not being fat goes, in a practical sense I guess it means Owen Teague didn’t have to quickly gain weight then quickly lose it and I’m always happy when actors don’t have to do stuff to their bodies like that.

Of course it’s a Trash finale! You think he wouldn’t show up for the end?

I like how he thinks that if the majority of Georgians vote for the democratic party, it somehow doesn’t represent the values of Georgia.

I remember the pretty compelling opening credits scene from the previous miniseries, but IIRC the virus gets loose because one tech or security guard realizes what’s been released and instead of being a good soldier and sealing himself in, slips the gate. That could make for a great opening as well.

Is it just me or was this take funnier when it first popped up 20 years ago?  Seriously.  This joke is so old it has become a cliche.

I’ve always thought that you could make a great It adaptation by focusing the story on Mike and Beverly, who are the most interesting characters, and making the rest of the main cast secondary. It’s kind of neat to hear that someone had the same thought about The Stand - these novels King have giant casts anchored by
