To give a specific example(re: my last point): how can we understand 20th and 21st century Marxist movements in Asia if we haven’t read Marx? And how can we understand Marx if we don’t understand the German and French philosophical traditions, not to mention histories?

I know but how can we hope to understand things like science, modern democracy, modern media and technology without studying first and foremost European history? If we neglect that history, we can understand nothing of today’s modern, urban world.

I’m saying that, compared to the history of England, France and Germany, which are truly crucial for understanding our constitution, government, religion, culture and way of life, Chinese history is not as closely connected. So that’s why, in my opinion, world history should mostly focus on European history, to put

ok I see you’re crazy. have fun with that. good luck!

Ok but it is a reasonable question - if you are teaching American history (which should be the main focus, imo, so that American kids can understand their own history and circumstances), you should include European history as context. But should you also teach Egyptian, Chinese, Indian history, to include POC? It

how ‘bout the two greatest leaders in British history - Queen Elizabeth and Queen Victoria?

you’re nuts. I said I wasn’t an ally specifically because I’m not an activist, and I’m not going around trying to change anyone’s mind because I think I know better than them. I wouldn’t consider myself a feminist either, btw, or any sort of ‘engagé’ type activist. In general, I’m interested in discussion, not trying

people on the internet are the worst. you more than this bryan guy though. At least he’s not going in for ad hominems. People like you bring everything down...

In fairness, South Carolina is a really beautiful state. Have you been to Charleston?

I explicitly said I wasn’t an ally...

Dude did you read my comment? I gave you an example: Al-Andalus - North Africans conquered most of Spain and colonized it for hundreds of years. You don’t seem to understand the rest of my post

Ok I see what you’re saying about listening - I agree. But I do think the other side has things to share. The man, the white person, the straight person, the cisperson, etc. etc.

In their defense, the biscuits are pretty good

Dude.

are you an academic?

I’ll preface by saying I’m not an ally, but I am white.

Haven’t heard of Al-Andalus then?

I mean in this particular case, yes.

I’m not ‘judging’ anyone, I’m expressing an opinion. You are in fact the person who is judging me, insulting me, and questioning my humanity. Maybe you should think about who was the monster in that exchange.... good luck

lol re: going somewhere “for the people.” Does anyone do that? Aside from visiting relatives...
