so it is literally considered inappropriate to ask where a candidate has lived? Isn’t that sort of, um, relevant??

I always wonder why people get mad about the question though, if they aren’t from the US. If you don’t have an accent, I would never ask you where you’re from. But sometimes someone will tell me they’re from the US, yet they’re clearly speaking with an accent. I just don’t say anything, but it seems weird that I’ve…
But it’s just automatic for so many people to ask that question. I know because I’ve also been a foreigner many places, for long periods of time, and yeah it gets old the “where are you from?” thing, but since I am aware that most people are genuinely curious, I don’t take offense.
here’s a cookie
Ok so this a ‘not all white people’ post (sorry!) - but seriously not all white people are English, German or French! Lots of us were colonized too. Lots of our ancestors were killed in mass genocide too. “your people” =/= white people. I personally am Irish, but let’s distinguish between the history of the English…
well considering team Woody’s argument is that Mia, in a jealous vengeful fury, fed Dylan these ‘memories’ - yes showing all the ways that Mia is emotionally deranged does cast doubt on Dylan’s allegations of abuse.
I mean, what are ‘consequences’? Taking away their right to speak in public, or for organizations to invite them to speak in public? Because that’s what we’re talking about.
i feel like its ambigous even in the details, that is why people don’t agree. also this is one person’s side of the story.
um I did not think that was the point. The point was that people don’t WANT to talk about it, not that they shouldn’t...
compared to what those people did to their kids? no its really no comparison...
huh? you’re just all over the place here. ‘mirror’ ? I don’t live in Alabama!! Also Roy Moore’s accusers are white. Not sure where you’re going with this...
lol
source??
oh yeah that was weird, denying only Lupita’s claim. But I don’t think anyone believed that... ditto Selma Hayek...
I’m saying that because I heard about some women pulling out and it was over abortion, not about some women not wanting to support WOC
very convincing argument
No links I clicked on really mentioned what this ‘array of issues’ was that made women leave the Women’s march last year. No links said anything about Lupita’s account not being believed. And I don’t know what the suggests for leaving ‘less people behind’ are based on that link she posted about abuse.
Um it literally does not say why they pulled out, it says some people “were declining to participate after the march refocused itself to include an array of issues experienced specifically by women of color. A selection of white women, it turned out, were feeling indicted by this and were considering staying home.”
what does doing better mean in this specific context!! that’s what I’m saying - she says there need to be hierarchies of pain - what does that mean in this context? It’s all just very vague ‘we need to do better’
I know I could read other articles, and I have - but considering this is an article on that topic, I just think in order to make its point it should actually do the work of citing examples.
