It’s a show about chefs. Featuring chefs. Over and over again. At a celebration of a (fictional) famous chef and her restaurant. That chefs were invited to. And they all talked about what creating, preparing, and serving food means to them. Which is another recurring theme of this series. Even if they were actors and…
I could not disagree with you more. The chance for all these chefs to just talk about what drove them and fulfilled them about cooking was my favorite part of the whole season. I love that Storer gave them a platform and we got to listen in. I fangirled the whole time.
Good lord
“especially when that person was last seen driving a car through the wall of her own house”
Right on the timing. They demonstrated the Nat/Syd connection with the omelette. It’s hard to make friends as an adult but I feel like when you do it’s swift and powerful. There’s real love between them, not least fueled by being caught in the storm of Carmy together.
This episode was sublime BUT
RE Breaking Bad important to note they didn’t use Crystal Blue Persuasion until the very last season and IIRC it was the very last episode. Like they waited until they earned it.
Feels like we also need a shout out for S1-3 of NY Undercover for having absolute fire live r&b/soul/blues/rap music every single episode. Often the guests aligned with the theme of the show (Brandy was the guest for a very early “scary internet chat group predator” episode). Regardless, we got Koko Taylor, Stevie…
Just mentioning here that Chris Zucchero is the actual owner of Mr. Beef and consultant on the show. And my googling tells me Paulie James is a sandwich guy from LA.
He was SO PROUD
Agree on the Faks and we haven’t even gotten to the best Fak episode yet!
Same with Chef Terry. She was firm but warm. Like a panna cotta? OMG I’m sorry what a dork.
Do you know what failing up means? Because Forrest Gump did the exact opposite. He succeeded wildly in everything he did despite the low expectations put upon him.
When I first saw this picture I thought Zack G was Oscar Isaac and I still kind of do. Like maybe it’s secretly Oscar Isaac playing Zach G playing Martin Short.
Danny was definitely the favorite - and I would have been happy with anyone in the final 3 once Laura was finally re-eliminated. But I was so sad for Savannah. I think she was really derailed by the break in filming and she never got her sea legs (pun intended) once they started the finale. She was such a dark horse…
Counterpoint: Turning Red was next to unwatchable. Unattractive animation and desperately unlikable characters. Elemental was just as rote and ugly.
It’s not surprising that at the time Ariana felt fine about what she was doing in her role, and now looking back is like well shit that was actually super creepy.
War, What is it Good For? (absolutely nothin’)
They are. Because they won’t shut up about it.
