That is objectively comical and I thank you for informing me about it.

What often gets lost in discussions of Lovecraft’s horrifying racism against Black people, Jews, Asians, and Arabs is how much he also hated certain types of white people; he frequently railed against “degenerated” descendants of Dutch settlers in New York. Like, who the hell hates the Dutch?? Dude hated everyone

Hopkins is really only in a handful of scenes in Silence of the Lambs, something like 20 minutes of screen time altogether, so I can see why he went big with it. When he became the main character, it just read as hammy. Mikkelsen underplayed it enough to where he could be in almost every scene and the performance

For me it was when that guy ripped himself out of the mural he’d been sewn into. Watching it, forget about it, but even the sound of it was teeth-clenchingly ghastly.

John McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone, which was an unincorporated US territory from 1903 to 1979. He was not born in a foreign country.

I have a Holga with the same problem; that door isn’t even hinged but is held on with a pair of rickety clips that fall off if you look at them sternly.

I’m pretty lo-fi and would probably just slap some electrical tape on it.

Every hobby is full of privileged white ding-dongs who will sob uncontrollably about how you’re making everything political when you tell them they’re being gross and making other people uncomfortable. Just to name some random weird things I am interested in and have joined Facebook groups for which I mostly wound up

Nice ones, not leper islands!

Jordan Peterson is Canadian. *cue flood of besotted lobsterboys asking if I’ve read of every word/seen every YouTube nanosecond of that hateful asshole’s ouvre*

HEY-O!

I can only assume I wasn’t cool enough.

I find this movie pretty much unwatchable today because of Edward Furlong. I just can’t stand to listen to him squeal out Bart Simpsons-esque catchphrases. It’s too bad, because Linda Hamilton’s performance was epic.

I know whenever I take a regular old vacation, like the weeks in May and October when I use the family condo on Dauphin Island, both my co-workers/bosses and myself will squawk endlessly about how it’s LEGIT AND PRE-PLANNED. That’s just normal business stuff.

It’s a bit of a miracle how riveting his books are

This is timely, the podcast 372 Pages We’ll Never Get Back (MST3K for books and book-shaped objects) is currently covering this. I think it might succeed where Pearl and the Mads failed and drive Mike Nelson insane.

I had the same reaction to The Masked Singer keeping on Nick Cannon after he went full Hotep and barfed out a bunch of thoroughly debunked Napoleonic-era conspiracy theories about the Rothschilds.

Guys, Nick Cannon doesn’t hate Jewish people, he just thinks they control the world and also aren’t really Jewish. Coolcoolcool. I don’t watch The Masked Singer on account of how painfully stupid it looks, so I don’t need to make any decisions here.

I have a double chin and love to accessorize, I got no problem with masks and may continue to wear them even after (if) this pandemic ever ends.

The new season of Slow Burn, about David Duke, is excellent. I almost skipped it, because my family is from Louisiana (and I live there now) and I’m old enough to remember his presidential run, so I figured I already knew enough about that asshole. Glad I changed my mind.
