There’s a new podcast from the makers of The White Vault and Liberty Podcast, VAST Horizon. Amazing foley work, as always, and I was immediately interested in the story and trying to figure out what could have happened. I don’t want to spoil anything, but it starts at 100 mph and, except for a couple of brief

Interesting. Didn’t she grow up in semi-cultish Christian denomination? Or am I thinking of a different former AV Club contributor??

Twitter, you missed a few nazis in the last purge. Time to tent the platform and fumigate again, you know how fast those things multiply.

I was so disappointed in The Phantom Menace that it made me retroactively realize I didn’t give a fart in a hurricane for the entire franchise. Being Generation X and growing up surrounded by Star Wars nerds, it’s like it took me 20+ years to realize I didn’t have to care one way or the other. The only prequel or

Yes, I know. The ads were taken out after the crime had just happened. The op-ed was written after they were exonerated, released, and the city had admitted they fucked up by settling with them financially. He was essentially saying, and still saying today, that he doesn’t give a shit that all reasonable signs point

Trump wrote an op-ed after the city settled with the five calling it “outrageous” and a “travesty”, and when he’s asked about it today he still insinuates they were guilty. Just in case you’d forgotten for a few minutes what an utterly horrific and irredeemable piece of shit he is. Happy Friday!

I read Horns before I knew who Joe Hill was and loved it; none of his other work* has ever met that early high mark for me, although 21st Century Ghosts and Heart-Shaped Box were both okay. But I once read another comment about NOS4A2 that says how I feel about it better than anything I could come up with, that it

This is a pretty good encapsulation of why I didn’t return to this show after season one. Portraying horrifically repressive dystopias in novels or movies is one thing, because novels and movies have a beginning, a middle, and an end. Portraying them in an open-ended series starts to feel like using a highbrow excuse

Too bad there’s no surgery that can remove the toxic poison that incels’ brains are filled with. Women are still going to be repulsed by you even if you have pec implants or whatever, because it was never about your appearance.

I’m definitely “a Karen”, but I think the single best story of the entire podcast was when Georgia did The Galapagos Affair. That was just pure gold from beginning to end.

I was assuming they were just changing their actual name to IHOP, like KFC.

People also complained back in 1963 when their soaps were interrupted by Walter Cronkite telling them the president had been murdered. People are dumb assholes and that’s probably going to be the death of our species.

I listen to just enough audio books that it makes sense to have an Audible subscription, I’m going to get this with my next credit. I like the podcast, so it makes sense to have Karen and Georgia read it to me in their own voices.

My favorite Vic Berger video is the one where it’s just a clip of Jacob Wohl’s and Laura Loomer’s “expose” of how Ilhan Omar married her brother, captioned with “I promise I did not add the music or edit this in any way”. In other words, it’s so terrible and incompetent that it accidentally bears a very strong

The loathing for Guy Fieri is what made me a “let people enjoy things” type of person. I’m 0% into his shtick but I got so sick of seeing joking-but-not-really tweets and hot take thinky pieces.

Thank you, this bothers me a lot, too.

I’m always slightly startled to be reminded that Steak-umms still exist. Or ever existed and aren’t just a fake TV brand like Morley cigarettes or Let’s potato chips. For some reason they seem like something Jessie Pinkman would have eaten.

Trump also loves The Fountainhead, by the way.

I didn’t hate any of the decisions they made for the characters, I just thought a lot of them felt rushed and inorganic because of the shortened final seasons. Also, Emilia Clarke and Kit Harington didn’t have much chemistry, which was unfortunate but not anybody’s fault or anything that could have been fixed.

One of the more believable conspiracy theories I’ve heard in my life is New Coke was botched on purpose to get people to stop bitching about the replacement of sugar in original Coke with HFCS, which happened about 6 months before New Coke. I mean, it’s more likely than, say, JFK being killed by Jimmy Hoffa.
