Pretty sure this is just an elaborate con to make us all watch that clip from Mac and Me again.

I haven’t watched a Bond movie since I was a kid (which would have been Moore, I’m old y’all) and don’t really have a dog in the hunt, but my fantasy-casting is Naveen Andrews. An Anglo-Indian Bond makes perfect sense to me.
After a long, silent pause from West, Kimmel threw out a life line, suggesting, “Why don’t we take a break?” When the break was over, so was most of the Trump talk.
That was Jimmy Fallon.
Rackstraw is the best suspect, assuming Cooper lived. Which he didn’t, none of that money was ever spent. He jumped into a winter storm in the Pacific Northwest wearing a suit jacket and street shoes. Dude dead.
Death and the Maiden. 5 or 6 years before Sexy Beast.
Sexy Beast is on a short mental list of movies I keep called “great movies that I will never watch again”, and it’s because Kingsley’s performance makes me feel like I’m being beaten with a sack full of doorknobs.
The Terror was more consistent I thought, just a compulsive page-turner from start to finish. Drood was a little more uneven, but I appreciated the weirdness of the story. I liked them both and will definitely be reading more of Simmons’ work.
I’m from south Louisiana and had some vague notion that Harry Connick, Sr. had been a stupendously bad prosecutor, but hoo boy. I want to read that book. (It’s just Orleans Parish, BTW. Not New Orleans Parish.)
It’s funny you mention The Moonstone, I just finished Drood by Dan Simmons, in which Collins and Charles Dickens are the main characters; it’s told from Collins’ POV. I’ve read The Moonstone and The Woman in White, and I just added Armadale to my to-read list.
Counties in Tennessee have mayors? Wild. But I’m not one to talk, I live in Louisiana. We don’t even HAVE counties, but we do have something called a “Police Jury” that has nothing to do with either the police or courts.
It’s not just that Roseanne became super-right wing. Unfortunately that’s not rare among white people who make a fuckton of money. But some of her tweets promote that QAnon madness, and those people are straight up lunatics. They think JFK, Jr. faked his own death and that Trump is sending them coded messages by…
The character of Alice, Camille’s roommate who committed suicide, is a TV creation entirely Alice was in the book—she even committed suicide the same way she did in the series, by drinking cleaning fluid—she just wasn’t nearly as important a person to Camille. She only gets an offhand, 2- or 3-sentence mention; I’m…
Most of the time I think the various snake oil sellers of the rightwing media—your Ann Coulters and Bill O’Reillys—aren’t actually stupid enough to believe in the bullshit they’re peddling. They’re just soulless, nihilistic monsters who would sell their mother’s bones for soup if they could get 2 nickels out of it.
Me, too. I just really don’t like sitting in a room of questionable cleanliness with loud, rude strangers where I can’t control the temperature or hit pause. (As a frequent UTI sufferer, I drink about 100 oz. of water every day. No way am I getting through the typical bloated superhero summer blockbuster without…
Catinca Untaru in Tarsem Singh’s The Fall. Although I’m not sure that counts as “acting”, since she allegedly thought a lot of it was real. Maybe that’s just the indie cinema equivalent of an urban legend, though.
That’s like when people use the excuse “Oh they’re just kidding” about people who constantly post horrible things on 4chan or incel forums and tweet racist memes and rape threats at celebrities or journalists. At a certain point, dedication to what is allegedly an “act” becomes indistinguishable from the real thing,…
He’s almost the exact same age as me—born in February of 1974 and I was born in November—and yet he seems at least a decade older. And all that yelling has absolutely wrecked his vocal cords; if you listen to some of his old recordings, he’s not nearly as gravelly and wheezy as he is now. Hopefully he eventually just l…
Of course, I should have realized Cernovich would work extra hard to be a stupid neo-Nazi troll. Does this guy have a rich wife or something? Because I don’t see how he has time for a job in between finding damaging old tweets, making up pedophilia accusations and conspiracy theories, and self-publishing “self-help”…
Didn’t Gunn get called out for those tweets and apologize for them years ago? I don’t know why he didn’t take them down, but Disney taking HR advice from the guy who made Pizzagate a thing and has actually been charged with rape is one of those things that makes me think a) we’re living in the Matrix, and b) the…
