Way back in the dark ages in my first apartment, all I could afford was a 14.4 dial-up connection. My mom sent me an email with a god-awful huge (for the time) attachment. Being the internet at the time, I could receive no additional email until this attachment had finished downloading. So, I connected to the internet

They’re not wrong that effects can’t fix a story, but the shoddiness of the CATs effects was well-documented. It may have been down to timing rather than talent, but the VFX were a huge issue.

“It demeaned the global community of expert VFX practitioners doing outstanding, challenging and visually stunning work to achieve the filmmakers’ vision.”

I'm wondering that too, Jeremy.

No “of course” about it.

MARY STEENBURGEN!

uh say what?

Are people still making this argument? This was back in the day when people saw graphic adventure/puzzle games like Myst “killing off” text adventures and Lucasarts-style adventure games. Which they didn’t.

Years ago I had a friend say that “savage’ was offensive to her and her fellow indigenous people for many of the reasons Paul outlined above. So I stopped using it (not that it was really a regular part of my vocabulary anyway).

Oh, man, the Three Investigators’ clubhouse hidden deep in their dad’s junkyard was my jam as a kid.

IT HAS BEEN MANY YEARS, SO I DO NOT RECALL IF ONE COULD SOLVE A THREE INVESTIGATOR’S MYSTERY ON THEIR OWN, BUT WHAT I DO RECALL IS THAT THEY WORKED ON AN AMAZING NUMBER OF CASES BEFORE THEIR 30 DAYS OF ROLLS-ROYCE USE WAS UP. AT WHICH POINT A GRATEFUL CLIENT OF MEANS SET THEM UP PERMANENTLY. WHICH WAS CONVENIENT.

Now, Alfred Hitchcock And The Three Investigators was a series worth revisiting!

I cannot imagine revisiting those books. I remember that a squirrel can’t go down a tree backwards and that getting robbed of money that doesn’t equal one bill is somehow proof that you were robbed. Now, Alfred Hitchcock And The Three Investigators was a series worth revisiting!

“Hmm. The data says we should make a live action remake of Frozen with Luke Skywalker and Iron Man. Bill, do we own the rights to those?”

Hey, if it means more parts for Calculon, I’m for it.
