Well the live group nude scene on network television should be interesting.

I strongly disagree re: Del Toro and Wilco, but the Tom Cruise pick is so dead-on. I’d also throw McConaughey in the mix.

The Phantom is a much bigger deal here in Australia - the fanbase is pretty big comparitively and his comics are basically the only ones which are on sale at newsagencies without fail.

I watched both The Phantom and The Shadow on the big screen, and I will have words for anyone who tries to crap on them. They were both cheesy, and cliched, but they were fun, pulp movies just like their source material.

I think people just think it’s funny that this dude no one has heard of made such an impact as to be made fun of by different comedians of different generations.

Given that Fincher at the time was “then a music-video veteran with no features under his belt,” I’m guessing they expected pretty much anything other than what they got.

I will never get the hatred for Resurrection. I said this in another comment but its a really successful merger of Jeunet’s bright, crisp visual style with Alien’s already established design. And it has a ton of great character actors beside the Jeunet regulars.

That’s one of the reasons I think the original is so much better than the sequels - it certainly had its share of juvenalia, but at least it was (a) not quite as scatalogical, and (b) had more actual parody, instead of just random references. I’m pretty sure Go-Bots were a crappy knock-off of Transformers, which came first (?), but for whatever reason, I got into Go-Bots first. They were super shitty compared to Transformers, and barely even transformed, but they were die-cast (I think) as opposed to plastic and just seemed more genuine, somehow. Anyway…

Condorman worked for me as a child. I had it on VHS and watched it multiple times, the prolonged car chase particularly sticking out. My nephew also recently gave the car chase five stars.

I’d say the last couple seasons of AoS is better than anything other than Jessica Jones 1&2 and Daredevil 1 (though the high points of Luke Cage and the Defenders were quite good, so I could call those a wash).

SHIELD has gotten progressively better with every season.

This is one of my all-time favorite musicals. I’ve long requested that “The Hell of It” be played at my funeral.
