Strong but not LOL funny. He didn’t really take it to where he could have.

What?  You don’t understand the phone call between Piper and Alex?  The whole point of Alex not sharing wasn’t because Piper couldn’t be bothered to listen, but because she couldn’t tell her.  It was fantastic to see Piper realizing Alex’s needs superceded her own to hear what’s going on in her life, and just support

She’s fallen so far since season 1.  It’s so sad, I’m also still pissed they wrote off Bennett with zero explanation.  No way he’d give up his own kid that easily.  They just botched her entire storyline after the gun episode.

Actually by googling, it seems the Doctor who was called to the Kennedys was for both John and Jackie.  More than 30 times in a year, prior to events.  The show has Jackie’s character say it’s before important social events, doesn’t portray her as a drug addict.

I’m late but just want to say I appreciate the review and perspective on the show. I agree that there’s some missed points/odd plot devices in episodes 4-6. When you wrote that the strongest episodes were 1-2 I recalled the feeling after watching that first night, and I agree.
For other readers, I think AV Club

However there are other ways to discover who a child is/was besides asking simple very few questions of people who knew them. It definitely seems like they haven’t delved into their daily lives as much as they should have, or it takes too long for them to get to it. Realizing 10 years later that the notes were passed

Good point about not divorcing legally in the 50s unless there was another marriage on the horizon.

You’re just wrong. Nowhere in the movie does Shirley allude to what you wrote. My comparison to King’s rhetoric may not be perfect but you original point is too critical.

That’s not at all what he said. He said to make progress you have to do it with DIGNITY. And he was admonishing Tony from getting violent with the cop, which landed them in jail. This is strikingly similar to the ideals of MLK, on his day today... non-violent protest makes change, violent does not.

Now playing

I absolutely love hearing Hugh Grant talking about his role in this movie. He is just hilarious, self-deprecating and albeit charming. He talks about the prime minster role (and the dance specifically) at 8:30:

Thank you!!  They didn’t know until later that the kids had never even hung out.  As a detective I would assume they were friends just as the boy originally confirmed, and the dads had each other’s phone numbers.  Of course, I’m not a detective.

My husband kept whispering “Dylan McKay” to me, and that “Donna is around the corner”. I then knew that my husband watched way more 90210 than I did.

Agree - and one of her examples was Wayne “shaming” his wife for coming home from dinner with another cop/detective. Whom she clearly told her husband she would flirt with to gather information. Making it a date. Smelling of alcohol. I’m surprised the reviewer missed that this is also how he and his wife started, all

“They are generally hideous people”? Wow. Quite a stretch. It’s the most practiced religion in America - modern Catholicism is more liberal and accepting than most sects of Christianity - Catholicism is also historically the most charitable organization in the world?  Yes some PEOPLE in the name of religion have done

Upvote for the last comment about white guys, but don’t agree with your “teenagers are shitty” rhetoric. I’m a high school teacher in a diverse area and actually teenagers are kinder and more socially aware than they were when you and I were in school. The access to different types of people (with the internet, social

And why would we be seeing her version of Judaism (or yours) and not these characters’, who are undoubtedly Upper West Side well-to-do Jews without a Christian mother?

Why??

Thank you for the Yoko Ono question!  I had the same thought.  So cool of them to include the wink to her.  I think Yoko deserves more credit for her contribution to art than just the screaming records she produced more recently.

Definitely swoon-worthy. I liked the character a little more when he was teasing Midge; he’s already her puppy dog. I mean yes she’s fantastic and most men would see that right away but it was an interesting dynamic.

And even better was her response.  A thoughtful, measured “Yes.”  Go girl!
