I think you need to read the article on EW - an interview with her manager. She DID do a soundcheck with an in-ear monitor and microphone in hand. There is VIDEO on Just Jared with the music playing and her singing with the dancers! It’s ludicrous to think she went to a rehearsal 8 hours early to walk around.

Yes she did show up for soundcheck - there are literally pictures she tweeted of herself and her dancers from the soundcheck at 2:30.

Emotions had no lead vocal on it, and when We Belong Together started she straight up said into the mike “Well this is the album version, so I guess I’m just going to sing it - or whatever - for you”. they flipped it on her because of her complaining that she couldn’t hear. I don’t think she intended to lip sync!

Except can you even imagine Sinead or Joni finishing a show now, period? Maybe what Mariah is doing is protection. She does sing live still - Andy Cohen recently went to her show in NYC and said she was belting all over the place and it was amazing - and she wasn’t going to lipsync Emotions (no lead vocal).
