He may have been paid well once he got to a certain point in his career, but working conditions in the performing arts are often dehumanizing and stressful, and it is not surprising that a lot of people have problems with addictions. But it's all sparkly and pretty on the outside, so no one really talks about it.

I hope you or your loved ones never has to deal with addiction - it's truly a horrible thing.

I feel bad for the swans, but just letting invasive species do their thing doesn't help anyone. It's too bad that they can't be used to feed hungry people or something, your average mute swan weighs in at 20-26lbs.
