I’m not a parent, so I get to experience these groups through my friends with kids. Holy motherfucking shit are they privileged disaster zones.

That’s pretty much what my lady friends and I have been doing during quarantine. We’re all very anxious people, who are torn between wanting to be informed and prepared and active participants and the soul crushing panic of having all of that information.

We recently rewatched Mad Men and that is the only reason I remembered that she existed.

I did his glands, put his anti-itch/antibiotic ointment on his itchy butt, and he seems to be doing much better today. Just had to get him out of the cycle of licking.

His are pretty good because of his special kidney helping diet. He’s had issues with them pretty much his whole doggy existence, they just fill up every 6 months or so. His issue is more that he’s a relentless licker and makes everything worse because he just cannot stop licking. 

He’s been licking endlessly because his glands need to be emptied (which I did), but because he’s been licking so much, he licked his butt raw, so he’s licking more.

I took some benedryl and some advil and put ice on the worst ones and that seems to have helped a lot. The humidity going down also helped. 

I just spent part of my evening expressing gross anal gland juice out of his butt in hopes I can avoid trucking up to the vet. again. Since he’s also been dealing with the world’s most stubborn uti.

No, I didn’t. I wanted correction and information if I was incorrect or using improper terminology and left a lot of space to be very wrong because as I said, my knowledge of this is narrow and specific. 

Everything in the world is completely and utterly beyond my comprehension now, while everything in my little bubble is in flux and I’ve got hives and my dog has some issue with his butt.
