I also hated it...particularly the endless meandering “musical interludes.” No.

Why is “cartel” in quotes? A price-consortium is precisely what a cartel is. So it’s not even a simile. This description is actually of a cartel...
Yes, because feminist culture is not monolithic. I respectfully insist that she would not have been cool with using motorcycles as a Lean-In-esque marketing tool...that is why I mentioned recuperation. But I actually did not know that about Thom at all, so thanks for that interesting piece of information!
That is a point well taken and at the risk of making a joke in terrible taste, as I said to the other commenter, I apologise for painting you with a broad “white”brush. I was provoked by the comment selected by the Jezebel blogger – to me the words “powerful women being trendy” are a bit contemptuous. It seems like…
Point taken and I apologise for painting you with a wide (white) brush. I can barely put the percolator back together so kudos on your mechanical expertise and logic skills, and even though I’ve only been on a scooter, I’m sure it feels great to ride a motorcycle on the highway. Ride safe and have fun.
Spears wore an odd dress and the whole thing made me feel very sad for her and for the unyielding passage of time.
It’s nothing too awesome, I’m in education. I was just writing a lecture for Thursday about some of these very issues (more the recuperation (in the Situationist sense) than the specific examples) of feminism in late capitalism so this subject has been on my mind. Thank you.
As is often the case with your very sensible, thoughtful, and polite posts and comments, I see what you are saying, thank you.
OK. I stand corrected. Ride safe and have a good time.
I guess it’s not framed as an explicitly feminist action, but the casting is definitely in the vein of “empowerment” (another misconstrual of activism that needs to go away) rather than “a reified “outlaw” pastime for wealthy people,” which is what it is...if this were on Flygirl, which is basically about white ladies…
‘ “I think we’re seeing a kind of onset of a kind of powerful women being trendy,” MacNaughton told The Guardian. “For us it’s about, for us ... “ ‘
I’m not sure what your point is...so having abandoned your diagnosis we can now just decree her a jerk? I mean of course that’s what people come to Jezebel to do, tear down other women, but...you could’ve just said that to begin with and it’d be OK.
Incredible bone structure, but I love her choice of a short choppy hairstyle, and those eyebrows! I still remember the poster for Basic Instinct with her devil eyebrows peeping up over Michael Douglas’ shoulder!
Hardly pretty clearly. The DSM-VI will change the appellation now known as BPD to emotional disregulative disorder, which more aptly describes the condition. The other reason for the change is for exactly this, armchair psychiatrists who casually toss the term about in a sexist way to mean “demanding woman/ Glenn…
It’s really frightening to think that someone like you makes decisions on behalf of people you hold actual power over, if this is how enraged you become by someone anonymous challenging your credentials on the Internet. Here is an article from several years ago outlining the discussion over changing the name of, yes,…
There is absolutely no evidence, even if BPD were still a thing, which has repeatedly been pointed out to you that it’s not, that there would be any causal relationship whatsoever.
Are you a psychologist? Or a psychiatrist? The answer is no, because then you would know, as pointed out earlier, that the terminology for BPD is disputed, by, among others, the APA. There was a huge dustup when the terminology was not changed in the DSM-V.
An unsubtle plug of a show starring [literally any member of the female species, or, failing that, a MOC, or failing even that, Jimmy Fallon] that is an NBC/Universal property? No way, I can’t believe I’m seeing this on Gawker Media.
I have a pretty popular (for a special interest) account and since I mostly only post about the special interest, I rarely receive personal-ish DMs let alone requests for in-person encounters. I’ve made a few friends on Twitter, though.
