Fuck off, 2016.
I'm with Alex — I'll never watch Lost again, but I was on board pretty much from start to finish, and a hell of a ride it was.
That should have told you everything you needed to know, though!
I know much of Hi-Fi was written and recorded while on tour, but to me, the album has a much different feel and sound to Monster — less fuzzy, less grungy, somehow at once claustrophobic and agoraphobic, which I guess might be how you'd feel spending most of your waking hours on a tour bus skimming over Midwestern and…
I've been thinking a lot lately about that DS9 two-parter where Sisko, Bashir, and Dax travel back in time to 2024 and the United States has taken to sticking the poor and mentally ill in apartheid-style ghettos.
Seasons 6 and 7 are the definition of political fantasy, but what a beautiful world it would be if the Democratic Party were led by the likes of Jed Bartlet and Matt Santos and the Republican Party were led by the likes of Arnie Vinick and Robert Royce.
Nobody cares about this trash person.
Wow, that accent is awful. Bad enough to distract from how terrible this movie looks like it will be? That remains to be seen.
This finale was weak and it's a pet peeve of mine when historical dramas mangle the way events actually unfolded not for the sake of cohesive storytelling or even just creative license, but as outright revisionism. There's a compelling story to be written based on the real-life Princess Margaret breaking off her…
R.E.M. really knew how to nail an opening.
Monster is iffy, and then New Adventures in Hi-Fi is sublime, then Up is flawed but compelling, and then the 21st-century records weren't that great (with a few excellent tracks here and there).
I was just listening to Pageant in the car today. An unbelievably good album.
Personally, I believe R.E.M. is the greatest American band of all time — which isn't to say there aren't plenty of other great American bands. (And how the hell do we classify Fleetwood Mac, anyway?)
Talk about a fashion trend I simply do not understand.
Gee, I sure can't wait to see how many times Donald Trump uses the word "tremendous" when he does this.
I have an awful feeling that we're going to consider concepts like "wasting political capital" to be awfully quaint this time three years from now.
Barack Obama is still president until noon on Jan. 20. Maybe the National Guard could help Pat McCrory move out of his office sometime before then.
Who cares? Trump lost the election by about two million votes, but he won anyway because of a bizarre system called the Electoral College. Republicans only control the Senate because Wyoming, South Dakota, and Alaska each have the same number of senators as California, Illinois, and New York. Republicans only control…
Something tells me Jeffy isn't exactly going to be a friend of the trees.
