No, you’re projecting because, so far as I can tell, no one has told you ‘what to enjoy’. Young Frankenstein is great! Quite possibly my favorite movie of all time is All That Jazz, which is plenty problematic; I can recognize that and still love the movie.

But again, you’re projecting with this whole “so affronted” thing. They quite accurately answered a question, and for some reason you have read an entire imagined personality into them.

This is such a weird strawman, because you only have to look, like, 3 inches up on the screen to see that he didn’t say he was ‘traumatized’ by the scene at all.

So your complaint is that the author used a common turn of phrase - “Had (x) happened today, (y)” - and you literalized that into a scenario where they lost the script to American Pie in the mid-90s and it was rediscovered today and, like, they hired Jaume Collet-Sera to make it? Except that still wouldn’t be a

I guess... okay, that doesn’t really clear anything up about your complaint to me. Sorry!

Your reply confuses me, and seems to be reading a lot into something that isn’t really there. Natasha Lyonne and Shannon Elizabeth had shitty roles in a movie they didn’t relate to because it wasn’t interested in them at all; therefore, they are like zealous fundamentalists?

Same. Tuned in for the first week or two, saw what felt like the same match over and over.

The Outer Wilds is the game that has most impressed me so far. I don’t typically like exploration/puzzle games much, but this game has me completely enamored in a way few games ever have.

I don’t typically like this style of game, but if it sticks the landing - I’m about 15 hours in - it is absolutely going to be my game of the year. It’s genuinely incredible.

I’d vote for Joe Biden, if he were the nominee.

On the one hand, that’s true, and if she were making a movie about rape in the typical context, that would be a reasonable critique. But she’s making a movie about British imperialism in Tasmania, and that’s a radically different context, and in that context, that more violent take seems relevant and justified.

UM

Chapo is the worst, but these kids seem like genuine, sharp leftists. Don’t lump them in with those idiots; there just... isn’t much entertaining leftist political content out there, sadly.

Biden would lose, and likely lose bad. In the off chance he won, we’d get 4 years of nothing followed by an even more extreme Trump.

This seems like a good time to stop paying attention to Star Wars, for me.

He doesn’t have any policies.

IT IS NOT MEANT TO CREATE BETTER SERVICE, YOU FUCKING JERK.

This looks really cool. Actually, looking back, all his games look really cool. Wish they’d come out on Switch so I could play them, but I totally get why they don’t. Oh well. Still cool as hell.

I believe, though I don’t know for sure, that the singular ‘they’ is Kotaku house style when the gender of the person in question is unknown.

Heather is not using language incorrectly. The singular ‘they’ predates the purely plural ‘they’ by centuries and is perfectly grammatically correct, particularly if the author does not know the gender of the person in question.
