I’m not saying it is a lie to attract audiences, but it’s a weird use of a name that is already in canon. I’m not being cynic about it and complaining, I’m wondering why would they go with such a weird choice.
What I wonder is WHY Timothy Zahn would choose “Rogue Squadron” to name the elite X-Wing squadron when in the movies the iconic name is “Red Squadron”.
But it’s not like they can’t change the title... and when they announced the title they also already knew the movie was a war style movie about a commando of troops not fighter pilots.
Always felt weird that from all the titles that this movie could have they would use Rogue One which already means something different in the Star Wars Canon and has nothing to do with this movie. How many people thought at first that this movie was about the Rogue Squadron?

It’s been a while since I said this, but I really like that Harley Quinn design
Does anybody else love that Tarkin has a Venator model in his quarters? Like an admiral with the models of old ships.
Those are Imperial Star Destroyers II (Empire Strikes Back) on the first Death Star... that is SO wrong....
It’s not even my hometown, but the way London was done in Sherlock Holmes 2009 (with the parlament next to the bridge) bothered me.
Also, in Vicky Cristina Barcelona, Oviedo looks like a exotic, sensual, warm mediterranean city, while Oviedo is actually a rainy city with celtic roots, so it actually looks more like…
So you get an idea. Still pretty small compared to Gozilla...
I really would have liked a scene with Grey Worm, Theon and Varys together...
