I hope Kotaku puts out a memoriam post for Mike Fahey. I’m sad that he passed. I realize all of these posts were probably scheduled before the break. But I’d like to leave a comment here to let people know of his passing. He was one of my favorite Kotaku contributors.

The pricing on a PC that could give me similar performance is still crazy.

The new Broly movie is also canon!

Yeah lol, like that one time a group of people decided to remake Half Life 1 in the source engine and Valve got so angry they gave them their blessings, allowed them to change significant portions of the game and even allowed them to turn the game into a full release.

I remember back in the early 10's, Wada talked about ending the Final Fantasy franchise, or the entire concept of Squareenix continuing in the business of AAA game creation, in favor of social, cell phone and browser games.

I have like 8 full games on my PS5 and I've still got plenty of space and have yet to install a extra SSD. What monstrous game are you downloading?

Most PS5 games are smaller than their PS4 counterparts (thanks to new compression technology), so the problem is getting better, not worse.

SSD expansion on PS5 is incredibly simple. Is it easier on Xbox? Sure, but you’re also locked into whatever they give you, which right now is very limited and tops out at 2TB for $400. Whereas right now you can get 4TB PS5-compatible SSDs for around $500 or 2TB drives for under $200. You could literally pay someone to

Adding in an ssd is pretty simple, actually. You buy a compatible one(there’s Youtube vids and articles on the subject if you’re unsure), pop off one of the side panels, open a single screw, plug it in and screw it in, put back the screw from before, close up, go in the menu and set it up.

Its not small if you’re comparing the storage size to the switch? If you have PS4 games downloaded you can just get an external Harddrive and install PS4 games to there. It’s pretty easy to do and cheaper than SD cards if you compare price to size ratio.

I feel like in western media, Tomoyuki Takechi doesn’t get nearly enough credit for what Squaresoft was. He was the President of Squaresoft from 1990 - 2000, and the Chairman of Squaresoft from 2000-’01, shortly before the merger with Enix (‘03).

Valve decided to use an immutable file system for the Steam Deck’s OS - essentially, the core of the operating system, including the directories where system-wide apps are typically installed, is read-only. It’s a safeguard against people who’d accidentally end up making their OS unbootable by blindly following

I’m certain it has nothing to do with box office revenue, Epic probably penned a deal with limited-time license to the property because they want to (and already have done) give away the city and car assets for free. Expect to see a lot of shovelware and at least a few AAA games with that same city

Not always. The PS2 was fully backwards compatible for its entire lifespan and early PS3s were fully backwards compatible with both PS2 and PS1. Later PS3s still played PS1 games no problem.

I never played the game, but I heard there were microtransactions, and there’s quite a few results on Google when searching for ‘simcity microtransactions.’

They wanted you to think it was multiplayer bullshit, but we all know it was DRM bullshit really.

It’s 2022 bro, they're gonna replace Miller with Chris Pratt.

Gotta love the loyalty to Trip Hawkins on the EA/3DO front. The 3DO concept was an interesting idea considering multiple manufacturers could produce one, but I’m not sure it’s a concept that would ever take off. Not to mention the price point.

Whenever I see people use “sussy” it seems so forced. Am I just getting old?

All Naughty Dog games were written in LISP until Uncharted. Andy Gavin, co-founder of Naughty Dog, created GOAL for PS2 games.
