The understand why all the fighting games guys are on the staff but why is the Tales director on the team. Tetsuya Akatsuka should lead the team since he's the only one with casual fighting game experience.

I find it odd that the only reason Square-Enix merged was because Square spent alot of money making Final Fantasy the movie. Yet somehow Square is spending even more money on the Final Fantasy series and not controlling costs.

Yup. Nintendo just announced that Super Smash Bros 4 is being developed by Namco Bandai. The team is being made of up guys from Gundam Vs, Soul Calibur, and Tekken for some reason they're being led by the guy who directed the Tales series of RPGs. Makes no sense but I guess they need a casual fighter point of view.

This is the team that's making Smash Bros, so the series is in good hands. Still don't understand why the director of the Tales series is in charge though.

Pro Evo during the early 2000s was better than FIFA and made FIFA step up it's game. FIFA didn't become great until this generation. I don't think graphics are really important to casuals. I think the problem is that Nintendo doesn't highlight the console and that casuals will be confused by the Wii-U since Nintendo releases tons of peripherals with Wii in front of it's name.
