My father-in-law is probably the best example, I’ve set up Alexa enabled speakers throughout their home and in the backyard so while he is going about his day he can listen to audiobooks/radio/etc which was almost impossible before as the devices for the visually impaired are terrible. He’d basically have to pick one

Actually no I haven’t. I do have a number of smart devices and occasionally I’ve noticed that they’ve activated unintentionally but thats little more then a small annoyance.

Testing has been happening for years in just the environment that you’re proposing, hell we were doing autonomous testing on closed courses almost a decade ago when I was an undergrad.

It’s hard to draw a conclusion on how concerned I should be by this without hearing the conversation. I mean, did the couple set up device calling to this coworker and have a daughter named Alexa? I doubt it, but I’d rather have more facts then speculation.

You mean like this one that Uber built

Its amazing to me how many of you seem to think Uber, Google, etc. just built a prototype, said YOLO, and started testing on public roads... There were millions of miles logged in simulations, private tracks, closed roads etc. However, the reason we have REAL WORLD testing is that you cannot simulate the real world no

How are you going to test autonomous driving if not on public roads?

I wouldnt wish the hell of trying to use a bixby powered speaker on my worst enemy

I get that its hip to say that Americans are stupid, but I bet if you were to compare the educational backgrounds of the American to the EU panel, the American panel would consist of far more graduates of elite universities.

Hahahaha, you’re what’s wrong with America.

Probably not, the US would just lean on Saudi Arabia to up their exports and they would probably oblige as they hate Iran.

Quick google search came up with an WSJ article that was published this morning that says basically this

I live in San Francisco, this is targeted squarely at people here who work in tech, live in condos and would pay a premium for “no care” car ownership. I gotta say... its a super appealing offer even to someone like myself that will always have a few cars .

I drive for DoorDash 3 times a week between 6 and 9, I do this because I consistently make $30+/hour and its helping me make my mortgage and have a little spare cash. That extra $1000/month is not make or break money, but its sure nice to have.

So when you think great pizza you think... Paris?

Could easily afford 1000 SQ feet, basically mansion

Never said it was, I just thought it was interesting at the time

I don’t know, at least out here in SF when I was looking for my first car (2005) dealers were extremely hesitant to let me test drive the preludes, people then thought that they were a future classic along with the S2000's. But then again the import market in the Bay Area is probably hottet than most

Fun fact, those harbor pilots in SF make upwards of $400,000 annually. This came out after one of them plowed into the Bay Bridge

People like you do way more damage than good for any movement you’re a part of.
