In regard to the ridiculousness of the Big Bad of the entire series getting killed and leaving the conflict with mere-human Cersei for the “climax”.... we’ve been “warned” what this show was all about from the very beginning. Think about it. “Game of Thrones”. That’s the name of Martin’s first book in the series, Read more

That’s totally what GRRM, had he allowed his characters to reach such a stupid position, would have written. I heard in some interview or read in an article somewhere that his method of writing is basically, deciding what makes sense (logical, emotional, or whatever) for each character to do at any given point, and Read more

Calling it here... Arya and the Hound make it to King’s Landing, and encounter the Mountain en route to Cersei. While the Hound and the Mountain begin Cleganebowl, Arya uses the distraction to sneak past to get to Cersei. The Mountain catches sight of Arya and disengages from his battle with his brother to protect Read more

Arya saving Bran with the dagger he was attacked with (and that kinda started the entire game of thrones going on in the show) was very poetic.

IIRC, they met the crashed remains of the Borg Sphere from First Contact, which had already traveled back to that time from the future. So no, the Borg in Enterprise weren't being teased as "origins of the Borg".

During those episodes where Billy and the doc were falling in love and she was beginning to bend and break the rules, I began to get this Joker/Harley Quinn vibe from the situation. It felt like a quite believable portrayal of a genuine “normal” person being seduced by the dark side and giving in entirely. I can only Read more

So, the Zhaniverse has now contributed (by my impromptu count) FIVE aspects that have been adopted as Disney canon. Not just mere names of characters or places, these aspects have been integrated with their defining characteristics (though not necessarily their specific origin stories) intact. I’m delighted it’s longer than two hours. It’s rare to see a good film clocking in at less than that. Many superb films are in the 2.5-3 hour range.

150 years before our world attained nuclear power was around the year 1794—and we had a big world war incentivizing us to accelerate development of nuclear technology. How much of a difference was there between Valyria’s technology when the Targaryen’s departed, and our mid to late 1700s world?

I actually liked Monsters far better (okay, maybe not FAR better, but better, for sure) than Godzilla. It seemed a lot more... real, more of an immediate (as in at-hand, not as in instantly) experience... the characters were great... really liked Monsters. Godzilla was good, too, but for entirely different reasons. I Read more

Funny you should mention that; in a forum thread I started just over a year ago about which actors should play Zahn’s Star Wars characters (http://www.hard-light.net/forums/index.p…), I argued strongly for Wayne Pygram (the actor who played Scorpius) to play Grand Admiral Thrawn purely on account of his tone of voice Read more

Funny, I just recommended (here, if you must know) that if they ever make the Thrawn trilogy into movies, that Pygram would be the penultimate Grand Admiral Thrawn - primarily for that cultured tone in his voice.
