Who the hell makes 17m a year and complains?  I’m sorry, but screw this asshole.

A Volvo wagon.  Able to haul lots of loot, its a tank if ya gotta ram a roadblock or go “off the beaten path” and can still run even with severe damage, and its unassuming as fuck.  You could probably just blend right into traffic if need be.

I Agree that I don’t think helmet laws should be enforced with any kind of legal penalty, however, I just can not in my head at all understand why you wouldn’t wear one.

I’ve had one save my life, I wouldn’t be writing this comment right now if it wasn’t for a helmet.

Same with seatbelts and motorbike helmets, why on

Question that I had that wasn’t seemingly directly addressed: Can the gas engine re-charge the battery or use some power from an alternator etc, to charge the battery? Does it have regenerative breaking?

I wondered about this, but I couldn’t help thinking the abundance of torque electric cars make might cause a lot of spinning?  No idea, as I’ve never winter driven one obviously.  I’m sure tho there is some torque limiting mode or some such that could be used.  For example, I usually start my manual cars in 2nd on

“Maybe we should all just buy used or vintage.”

I concour, all the car I’ve ever needed, and in truth, all the car most people really need. Safe, well built, practical not hideously inefficient.

I miss the old Kanye, straight from the ‘Go Kanye
Chop up the soul Kanye, set on his goals Kanye
I hate the new Kanye, the bad mood Kanye
The always rude Kanye, spaz in the news Kanye...”

Looking at these photos makes me miss Mexico City. Not what I expected it to be at all. Spent a week there earlier this year and it was awesome. Highly recommended!

To be fair, it would be nice to have, but as the other gentlemen stated, parts are hard to get, its expensive to fix. Lack of ABS dosen’t stop the car from running/driving well. There are just some quirks you have to put up with on old cars unless you want to just drain your bank account or have nearly unlimited time

I’m aware of those issues.  My old 850 had its ABS module die too, I just never cared enough to fix it. The rest of my volvo’s don’t have ABS even equiped due to their age, so I guess it never botherd me too much, I’m used to driving without it.

To me whats alarming to me isn’t so much the issue of fuel economy standards, as much as it is an issue of trampling states rights. Supposedly the far right isn’t in favor of stripping them away, yet, here we are.  Does anyone else find that somewhat disturbing?

Ahh, ok. Knowing that it makes sense, but yeah, not a good design I suppose. Thanks for the information.

Why is it so hideous?

Still have the ol trusty Bosh LH fuel injection in the Volvo, still works great even after 30+ years and 200+ thousand miles.  They do make a solid product.

How does PCV blowby/oil buildup cause valve failure??? I’m at a loss. I’ve seen engines with totally plugged PCV’s for years never eat a valve. Leak oil out of every orifice sure, but never munch a valve because of a plugged PCV.

Sounds like a cya move for shitty valves installed from the get go.

While closed deck EJ’s are decent units, I will NOT miss the open deck 2.5l variants. Those engines are trash-a-roni.  FA seems to be a much less issue prone platform so far, but time will tell.

You clearly don’t live in a rural area. :p

I’ll use this as an example, often time for work I’m driving hundreds of miles in a day to reach customer sites that I may only be at for an hour, maybe less, maybe a little more. Without a “supercharger” like device, you’re not going to get much energy back into your EV

To be fair, I think some of the issue comes with cold weather performance and lack of charging stations in rural areas. Not everyone lives in a metro area, here in the upper midwest, you can go hours without seeing a gas station, let alone a charging station, there are VERY few in many rural areas and that makes EV

I still wouldn’t. In today’s overly sensitive world, you’re bound to piss someone off even if you’re trying to help them. Just live and let live. The dudes $300 piece falls off, tough shit.

I do like the leaving a note idea, might be the better choice.  I guess you have to “physically touch” the car to like put it

Maybe there’s something I’m missing, but how exactly is a plane using more energy during its landing sequence??

engines are reduced in thrust (power) for landing, because well, gravity! You don’t need as much thrust to stay in the air coming down. Or is there some other factor I’m missing?
