I guess you're also getting tired of Daleks always saying "Exterminate!" and (changing genres) 007 always introducing himself as "Bond, James Bond"?

The biggest reason for using more than one monitor is that maximizing a window only eats up about half of your screen real estate. I like running with two monitors, one is a widescreen (16x9), the other is standard (4x3), but in portrait orientation. Both have the same dpi, so the mouse slide easily from one to the

Heh, heh! I just saw the link to this on the main lh page and thought it was a tutorial to some new programming language named Epilogue. I've been programming for a while, but the advice to say away from w3schools is always sound.

@Greg Wurst: Whoa, dude, you re-posted the mistake. Should be this (note extra quote between Ponies and the comma):

You assume that the street I grew up on appears in Google Street View, you insensitive clods! [maps.google.com]

@Dan Butcher: Just saw your question. I can't answer for MostlyHarmless, but I've been training myself since the day I realized what a time sink desktop publishing could become. These days I tend to use vim for first drafts, but even with a full-blown word processor, I try to just type plain text and worry about the

If you can stand the delayed gratification, Kinko's will take a PDF file and print it on any paper, punch holes, and bind it.

@Prairie Moon: someone else has already explained this:

@Marand: Blame MS Office. They've been mucking with the window decorations since day one (gradients in the title bars comes immediately to mind). I must admit, though, that their ideas tend to become standard in the following version of Windows).

Two show stoppers for me: first, it's Win7 only and I'm still using WinXP; second, there's no plugin to turn on "vi" key bindings. I guess I'm sticking with Vim.

I've been doing this for a while. I have a vacation home in the Ozarks, and the only place my phone gets reception is on a high shelf in the living room. Bluetooth lets me leave the phone there while I sit on the couch.

I have a WWII-era relative who says that as a child, many movie theaters had "air conditioners" that consisted of large fans blowing air across strips of wet canvas. She says it worked surprisingly well.

@Nitemancometh: I have no credit card associated with my iTunes account. If I want to buy something (which is pretty rare), I use a prepaid iTunes gift card.

@operator207: I do it the opposite. I have my access point giving OpenDNS to everyone and just changed my laptop to use Google's DNS server. This way the family's six handheld and console gaming systems are covered.

Several years ago, Men's Health ran a tear-out list of easy meals. There were two sets, each consisting of a shopping list and a week's worth of five ingredient meals. I've still got my copy somewhere for when my wife's out of town. If I can find it, I'll post it.
