Oh how I loathe marketing people.
Oh how I loathe marketing people.
Eh, but on a 5000lb vehicle with 8-1000HP, I would like to have the biggest brakes possible.
That may be true - but anyone who drives 400+ miles with one 5 minute gas stop must be driving in a car brimming with piss-filled gatorade bottles.
The thing that hit me immediately is the damage that wheel size does to range. Depending on the model, it looks like you take about an 5-12% hit for 2".
Its a shame that people who don’t like EVs can’t recognize the value of all that torque to help them move their goalposts all the time.
People already made that choice with gas cars around 400 miles when the German tried to offer up diesels.
Generally, yes. There are clear instructions and most fire departments are proactive and train for this kind of thing.
This EV won’t work for me because the commute to my job is 20 miles each way and once I get there they don’t give me enough money to buy this car.
I’ll be patiently waiting in the comments for someone to come say how this EV won’t work for them because their commute is 600 miles each way in the snow towing a 12,000lb trailer.
At some point range is going to be looked at like horsepower. Anything over 300 is unneeded.
I was being a smart ass; I used to drive a bug in the winter.
It’s more than that. Modern performance in a classic wrapper. No smog. Much better daily driver and track day car. Safer. But that being said, I wouldn’t do this again.
I’ll drop a bunch on Instagram eventually #volkzda
What got me started on this whole thing was the Miata suspension/subframes. Perfect little packages.
I gave up on that idea since I e-mailed Stef originally. Dark gray or dark silver is where I’m going.
I will be painting it, probably a dark gray or dark silver of some sort. It just looks too rough as-is.
I was good to go until we got to ‘clear coat over the patina.’
Miata oily bits with old German sheet metal? These are MY PEOPLE! 1934 Borgward Hansa 1100 over Miata F/R subframes. Probably the only pre-war rat rod Borgward in the USA. Mechanically, it’s 100% Miata, from crank to brakes.
Two words: Box flares.
He widened the body and the wheels still stick out that far. Damn, how skinny is a 510?
