Agreed. This is easily the most dour/depressing/dark Godzilla yet

Definitely prefer this one. If only this one had half the Hollywood one’s budget.

Like Brian said it is really hard to overestimate just how goofy Satomi Ishihara’s character and accent is despite how deathly serious the movie is trying to be. She seemed to think that speaking as fast as possible would cover up how bad her accent is but no dice.

Minor Spoiler? there are quite a few scenes where you see Godzilla but he is only sleeping/meditating/standing there. Still I think he gets more screen time than in Fatzilla 2014

So pumped for that. Hated Kong as a kid but Kong 2006 was way better than Fatzilla 2014 and it looks like Skull island will be even better.

Sadly I think that might have something to do with some of the rising nationalist sentiment here as Brian talked about, also movies about Bureacrats having meetings are alot more accepted here than almost anywhere else...

I’d love to see some Korean directors take a shot at Godzilla. Korea has been destroying Japan for like 10-15 years now when it comes to their film output.

I think it’s still better than 2014, and on Blu Ray there will be plenty of scenese you can just skip

Agreed Godzilla was creepy/scary and I wish they’d gone even further with that.
I agree with this review, but based on the preview I guessed it would have these problems with boring scenes so I guess I wasnt as disappointed
